Mileage discrepancy
Comments
-
It was clocked between May and end of July 2018. It was a lease car initially then sold on and clocked by the looks of it. Then sold on again to a private buyer, who then part exchanged it to the dealer we bought from.Alter_ego said:MOT history may reveal when it was clocked.0 -
Can you explain what the "contract says you can return the vehicle" means without naming the company?RHSum23 said:
If I name the company will that affect our complaint do you think? It might help me explain more clearly.AdrianC said:
Can you give a bit more detail about this...?RHSum23 said:Our contract says we can “return the vehicle” which could be a way out of this mess
What contract, with who, and what does it say?
Is the vehicle on PCP-type finance?
Or do the explanation and just put ABC Limited instead of the company name.
Also, can you set out a timeline of what you do know in terms of owners and mileage records?0 -

16/12/16 97,788 (BMW)04/07/17 123,675 (BMW)
29/11/17 139,547 (BMW)
01/05/18 156,259 (BVRLA which I think is a lease co., so lease car up to this point)02/08/18 31,156 (VOSA) (When we bought it)
30/10/19 54,087 (BMW) (They classified is as “rejected” due to the anomaly but we weren’t informed)
11/09/20 51,364 (When we tried to sell to WBAC - which means the previous reading on 10/19 is yet another anomaly sadly!)
Wording on contract states: “You have a right to end this agreement. To do so you should write the person you make your payments to. They will will be entitled to the return of the goods and to half the total amount payable under this agreement. That is £xxxx. If you have already paid at least this amount plus any over due instalments and have taken reasonable care of the goods, you will not have to pay any more.”
Thanks for any thought on this. The mileage is clearly hideous. Wish we hadn't trusted the dealer with their supposedly thorough checks.0 -
Looking at that, it must have been "clocked" in May 2018, after BVRLA and before the first MOT. What does the MOT history say?
The contract seems to read like a PCP finance. Is that correct?0 -
So it is on HP / PCP finance where you have the right to VT at the 50% total paid point. Where are you in regard to the payments ?

It’s HP finance. We don’t have any other details or history. Perhaps the NMR will be able to uncover some more details. I believe DVLA enable them to find out all the previous keepers so they can investigate fully. But it’s not a criminal matter apparently, and even if someone gets caught it won’t fix the problem we have.Grumpy_chap said:Looking at that, it must have been "clocked" in May 2018, after BVRLA and before the first MOT. 7 months away from the half way point. We are worried that if we do a VT maybe the revised value of the car will come back to bite us.molerat said:So it is on HP / PCP finance where you have the right to VT at the 50% total paid point. Where are you in regard to the payments ?0 -
