  • I opened an account in 5 minutes and immediately moved the money from Halifax, Natwest and Santander savings accounts which have all 'under the radar' diminished from 2-3% a year ago down to fractions of that. It's still minimising my loss, but I will need easy access to the cash sometime in the next 12 months.

The maturity date on the Issue 7 opened today shows 14/3/21! It looks like a carry forward from Issue 6; I've messaged them.
    Very slick application procedure.
Disappointed (personally) that an app on a smart phone seems to be part of operating the account. I much prefer laptop at home, but you could put that down to my age!

When I first opened my account this morning it was showing the wrong maturity date.
( I phoned them up and they were aware of the problem and Is now showing the correct maturity date)

    T&C 3.3 - I wish!!!!!
"The maximum amount any one saver can hold across all of their Skipton savings accounts, for example, fixed and variable rates, including Cash ISAs, is £5 million"

Also note, if not mentioned previously:
"For security reasons, you can’t withdraw money or close the account within 14 days of us receiving your first payment. This applies to both new and existing customers."

I noticed the maturity date too. Sure it will be changed..
Just for others considering the account you can operate online via laptop etc but, even if you decline to give mobile in application process, you will need to download the Skipton app to be able to do certain functions, including withdrawing money! The App is also used as a 2FA device.
Opening experience smooth for me. Awaiting postal letter now so I can register the App.
    Hi Ehube,
That is correct, we do have an alternative to the app which is the grid card, although this will be removed in the coming months in favour of a one-time passcode feature which is sent via text - more on this to come soon!
In the meantime, the app is the best way to keep your account safe and monitor your account. Feel free to contact our customer service or Twitter/Facebook team if you have any questions!
Well the grid card is pointless if you are withdrawing it.
As for one-time passcode, I have this problem with Ford Money - no mobile phone and unlike eg Marcus, they won't send it to my email address. Will you?
Alternatively Ford WILL send it to my email if I ring each time and request this - but that means ages on the phone and security etc etc.

Effortless account opening. Test deposit sent. Awaiting to see how long before it appears in account.
Update: It is visible in the account at 19:00 👍
Just need to wait to register the app.

Curiously, T&C suggest you can have two nominated linked accounts with this one. I may try that aspect too in a fortnight.
No option to link at the moment as no option to withdraw (for 14 days).
Update: Now my deposit is visible, I can now get to a point where I see a (faded) blue button to add my two nominated accounts. Cannot actually do so though, until secure code received and app registered.

If this means what it seems to say: "the grid card, although this will be removed in the coming months in favour of a one-time passcode feature which is sent via text - more on this to come soon!" it may obviate the need for the app - grid card till it's removed, then the passcode by text, as applies with so many banks and building societies.

Yes, and you need a security code delivered in the post to register and use the app.

Earlier today it took me about 30 seconds to log in. Just now it took me about two minutes.
