Glad you didn’t let the wife’s siblings remarks tip you over. Nothing to do with him/her how you finance your cars. I usually find people who make nasty unwarranted remarks like that are jealous. I would not even think to look up how much someone else’s car costs.
Excellent idea about the seedling for your son. Teaches him to wait for results too rather than instant gratification. Good you got to see your mentor. Day 90! Thanks all. Had an awful morning reflecting too much but pleased I’m working on the things I am with good team in place too. Just working this morning and probably evening to have lunch and afternoon with wife and son before he returns to school. Planned and similar planned for Friday, take my wife out for lunch and pick son up. Fortunate I can do this really I know.Wife has agreed to go through coming four months budget with me. She actually said to me let’s get it right this Christmas haha fml.Was thinking back this morning bit destructive but also thinking about lockdown. BoJo turned my !!!!!! life around ha I didn’t spend any time with my family really before lockdown 1; that happened and suppose it was a bit of a catalyst for sorting my life out really.6

I actually think that lockdown was good for some people and helped them reset. For us it made us appreciate our surroundings and actually see we don't need things. Just family, space and fresh air. For you it stopped the cycle of you going to shops and spending and maybe appreciate your family more. I would encourage your wife to get on board with the Christmas budget but also between you come up with some good ideas for your sons presents which do not end up with you spending a small fortune on him. Thoughtful gifts geared towards his interests rather than fancy expensive technology which is not aimed at 7 year olds. Same goes for your wife. Maybe one nice gift that she will appreciate and would not normally come from her monthly spends.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Brilliant to see you getting to day 90, such an achievement. As for presents for son, Lego is brilliant, not cheap but good value. A neighbours son, adult, got a Landrover Defender kit for a birthday present and it was amazing. That might be something for you to do together as winter is coming. It may only be 1st September here but it's very autumnal already. I must have missed summer.1

Day 90 is a massive achievement. Well done. I think lockdown also helped me reflect and realise the importance of the family I am surrounded by and made me reflect alot on myself too. In a way lockdown was a bit of a reset and a chance to evaluate things. The fact I saved money in the process was a positive too haha2

So many people have had time and space to evaluate during lockdown. I certainly did. Taught me not to be materialistic. I’ve decluttered loads too.September 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x2 -
Alt you're doing amazingly, in fact the whole family is
For gifts I like to give things to do, so shows or a music concert, that kind of thing. A gift and something to look forward to at the same time. Perhaps you'd all enjoy a session at a falconry centre, where you can fly the birds of prey? Someone bought us one as a gift, I really didn't fancy it, but it is one of the best days ever.5 -
A friend of mine always said she’d rather spend her money on experiences rather than things. She’s been to some fantastic places, seen some amazing concerts/plays/ballet, also relocated from Notts to Filey and never looked back.90 days clean is awesome, well done 👏I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Thank you all, means a lot actually and sorry no proper response from me today I should be asleep but can't, been a great day in some ways and not been so good in others; been battling with my thoughts all day and evening. Have had some respite tbf but the moment I've stopped the thoughts been really !!!!!! bad today. Horrid on it, horrid off it I know that's me before someone says it on here.3
