My Mrs is a !!!!!! expert in sleep, you might be onto something that it’s not switching off from work stress.1

BBQ don't have to cost a lot, you don't want something that will be a rust bucket in a year or anything too big if just for family and a couple of guests..
I got lucky with a weber spirit for £50 but on the charcoal i have stuck with a couple of cheaper options.
Got a smokey joe from the US for $15 but also have a clone that was £10 and not far off as good also portable for picnics.
can pick wp clones of the larger kettles for ~£40-£50
or on sale would do a couple of seasons

or for something a bit different and dual purpose

The cheap BBQ's never really last for more than a couple of years. We have a cheap one that we bought just before the first lock down and it is looking very shabby already despite having been under a cover when not in use.
We use the BBQ a lot so we are going to buy a better one this winter. We are after the Weber Genesis II E310. Not cheap but with a 10 year guarantee and they do stand the test of time. You do get what you pay for with these. Replacing a cheap one every couple of years works out more expensive then buying the Weber over the 10 year warranty period.1 -
My Weber spirit is 11y been outside for quite a few of those.
The only bits than need changing are the flavorizer bars gone rusty, might splash out on stainless replacement.
I had a small cheap gas one(£10 Texas, remember them, customer return) that was cast that lasted 10y+ burner disintegrated.
most cheap ones are pressed these days.
Sometimes simple is best 1/2 oil drum, a pile of bricks, bag of charcoal sheet of chicken wire.

Thanks re bbq will have a think a charcoal one might be interesting would flavour food differently though tbh I think I’m possibly more interested in avoiding FIL inviting all his kids round to my house than bothered about the cost of the bbq haha. They seem !!!!!! extortionately expensive at the garden centres which is a put off and I cba with !!!!!! about with gas cylinders when I’ve got a perfectly good gas range in the kitchen either lol.0

Calling day 69 through lol. Not through on spending - wife.
Lot of intrusive thoughts today re my son would probably do better if he had his school mate's dad rather than me. !!!!!! hard to let thoughts like it pass and not trigger the self destructive stuff. Not gonna lie rang the pros. Can only distract it with work now I don't have any access to money to spend and I don't want to !!!!!! up my head anymore than it already is.
Wife not had a great day worrying about her face after she outright asked a friend of hers if she looks better with or without the fillers and her mate reckons better with it. She's now nagging me about getting them done again. I don't want to pay for it tbh beyond the cost I don't want her having it done, I don't think it's good for her to be having a beautician pumping !!!!!! into her face. She's not got through the day without spending either went into town and came home with £125 of CT stuff for herself and £70 spent on the mate because the mate told my Mrs she couldn't afford to buy it so out comes the !!!!!! credit card again for her fml. I told my Mrs she needs to tell them she can't afford it either. She thinks they'll think she's taking the !!!!!! because she's in a new car. I've told her to tell them it belongs to the ltd no !!!!!! pride anymore ha. Now she's spent on this !!!!!! we shouldn't be going on one or two planned summer hol trips because her (unaccounted) spends should be offset. Actually seriously considering @Legs21 option of the !!!!!! chart on the fridge might get through to her with the !!!!!! child's colouring in chart lol.0 -
He’s your son. He loves you. He’s 100 better with YOU, full stop.
What are you going to do about the spending? Maybe use this page to list out all the options, however much you initially think no to them e.g. prepaid card just to see if it helps you come to a decision. The spending is not going to stop by itself. One of the options is to let it continue and take longer to pay off the RR balloon or take a greater dividend next year - if that’s what you select that’s fine, it’s got to be less frustrating than trying to adjust the plan every couple of weeks.
Enlist FILs help in getting a photo book made up of fabulous natural photos without the filler, just happy moments spent with son.0 -
I am quite surprised at your wife. She obviously tries to eat healthily, does gym work etc., but is quite happy to pump toxins into her body!
No doubt she thinks she enhances her outward appearance but she is doing underlying damage to her body beneath the surface, especially the long term effects.
Can she not see this?2 -
You know what I actually think she could respond well to the colouring chart.
Re your job- I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you love it and that's what matters. I absolutely love my job too. My school is a brilliant, fun and rewarding place to work with a mangement who tell me frequently how much they appreciate me and I genuinely get excited at the end of holidays that I'm going back to work.
I'm on a little over £30k a year. My little sister is a regional manager for an international supermarket chain and earns £89k a year. She hates her job, it makes her miserable and is already counting down to retirement- she's 30. Whilst I am sometimes a tad envious of her wages, I wouldn't trade a job I love for one that I hate, no matter the pay jump. You absolutely have the best of both worlds and more power to you that you've created that yourself.Bottom line;
£49k paid off
Car HP paid off
Debt Free!
Saved Escape fund and moved out.
Current focus; saving Emergency fund5 -
@alt80 gosh you are doing brilliantly! Re fillers: if your wife isn't bothered about the money or still more about knowing that she has value as a human being that can only be enhanced by a real face, maybe she'd care about the horror stories abounding. Fillers are basically surgery carried out by people who don't currently need any medical training at all. There are moves afoot to license it because of the dangers.2
