Ironically for us on so called freedom day, my family start our first ever spell of isolation as my double jabbed Husband tested positive today.
I feel gutted for my eldest, 3 weeks he's been with his girlfriend and now he can't see her for 10 days for first young love that 10 days is going take forever.
My middle one has to miss work that they love and my youngest is really worried he's going to miss his birthday party next month.
I really do feel for anyone in business trying to manage their resources at this timeMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

@annabanana82 fml is the hubby ok? How old are your kids? Def a long time if they are teens and into the 3wk relationship haha.
Covid is a !!!!!! nightmare start to finish for us all. Idk what the solution with it is - no chance is it completely !!!!!! off so we do all need to be careful about it but equally we have to have some kind of return to normality at some point. Maybe this is it new normal to last and we just need to all adapt to this being a part of our lives into the future.0 -

Children are aged between 12 and 17 having just refound their freedom it's a bit of p!!!!!r
I'm really glad we don't have any real plans for the summer, I'm sure it's going to be awhile we have a "normal" but not sure it'll be a normal we recogniseMake £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

@annabanana82 100 lucky there - I assume he was in that clinically vulnerable stay in group esp hard with kids that age I’m sure.
We have plans that can be moved now back from CP for rest of summer not sure why but I’m looking forward to it tbh. Agree re ‘normal’ though it’s changed everything I’m still in shock just how devastating this sort of thing is generally we’ve all watched the virus apocalypse movies but you don’t think some global virus shutting down the world is ever going to happen ha well I didn’t lol.
Is your bro off the chang yet?0 -

It does all feel very bizarre, being in the civil service and most of my friends and acquaintances are either employed by government, retired or on benefits so I don't really know anyone that has been adversely affected financially by this pandemic, but I guess that's only part of it, and in different ways the impact of this is going to be felt for a long time to come.
Hmm I'm not sure?? My Mum thinks he is, I haven't seen any signs of him looking like he's been on it in fact I can't say I've seen him looking like he's been smoking weed either - not that I see him much. I think he is still doing the latter though my Dad said he stinks of it often enough. He's just been avoiding his temptations to keep himself off it, but he drinks more instead so I can't help thinking he's just swapping one substance for another rather than fixing the problem.

There seems to be more Covid going round now then there was when we were in lock downs last year!!
The other half is having a nightmare at work with staff and customers isolating. It is only a small place so juggling work around when staff are not there is a nightmare and storing customers cars until they are allowed to pick them up is causing problems.
Got a message from our next door neighbours this morning to say that their daughter has had a positive test. Unfortunate timing at the start of the school holidays. Even more unfortunate that she is a deputy head teacher and has worked through since last March without contracting it and now they have it in the house.
Can't see it being long before we are pinged!!0 -
Hey alt80, havent been on in a while, been working hard and last checked in in December I think! I have been running my workplace as sales manager, lost of stuff happened, but now back in my usual role. Debt is down to 4 figures now then I can start attacking the mortgage.

Day 47. Another hot one don't mind it when I'm not doing a lot but not a massive fan when I've got a full day of work ahead. Always !!!!!! find something to moan about I do ha.
My Mrs is in a real mess - not sure what's wrong with her, don't think she is tbh. Going to sort her 2nd jab out today though and apparently taking the bag back. She handed her cards over to me this morning, told me she needs to stop sabotaging us idk. She takes that back and doesn't spend anymore, will have cleared much better than predicted - CP didn't really cost us anything I'd accounted for spending a few hundred there but we didn't so looking a lot more positive.
@annabanana82 there seems to be little sense to any of it mate - shielding/ lockdowns/ guidance generally.
I can't stand weed tbh I think it's worse than coke by a long way, it absolutely stinks and people just don't !!!!!! care about anything when they're on that stuff. Know most people would disagree with me re which is worse but I really !!!!!! hate that stuff, actually hate smoking in general and always have not really even sure why so that's probably what my issue is with it.
@RelievedSheff there seems to be a massive issue with Covid at the moment mate I've been waiting for freedom day but right now just doesn't seem the right time at all. Not really sure what the solution is but I'm half expecting being pinged too. Bit concerned about my Mrs tbh takes a while for jab to work, she's not ill etc so shouldn't be at massive risk but hearing of a lot of younger ordinarily fit people getting quite ill.
@Andyjflet well done mate re debt. I'm still on the road. No, I've not had Covid, have been tested for it a few times though ha.

Roasting here already, my office is upstairs and I cannot get it cool even with overnight airflow.
re:wife.
I think this could be the FIL at play here, previously(probably years) he was getting one side of the story because you were always avoiding them.
Looks like her option to go running back to daddy has been blown and that is going to take some adjusting to.
(now you have the cards back stick in freezer blocks so you can't use them)
This is another reason you need regular interactions with her parents as a family, for now he is on your side don't lose him.
She needs to come round to realising the going out for trips is much better value than a few bags for IG
Like yourself keeping busy with other stuff should help a lot.
This freedom day seems to have split the country not seen a lot of news but youngsters just don't care but the adult population is staying cautious.
I skipped going out yesterday but reports from my crew afternoon was much as normal only now bar service has resumed staff are not keen on table service, cash/card, ok with the app order delivery.
Might take a run out today to see what its like around town.

I hope Mrs alt gets herself sorted out soon. It might be that her Dad has had a word if he has now seen her behaviour. My daughter and son in law did a few activities at cp with their children but they have two so they were both able to go. I can understand the disappointment but she does appear to be over dramatic when things don't go her way. Maybe she is adjusting to the new you who doesn't shell out for stuff for her constantly by way of apologising for things you should not be doing. I have said before she seems directionless and this might be because your son is getting older so presumably getting more independent and she doesn't work. She must have dedication though as managing to drop so much weight she needs to put some on takes some willpower. I have been trying to lose the same half stone for months and cannot get anywhere with it so I have some sympathy with you for putting on weight and not being able to shift it.
The Covid rates are rising everywhere as it has not gone away.
