Leave aside the feelings about your FIL paying for things at CP. We do too for our daughters, son inlaw and grandchildren. Money is tighter for them as they have mortgages and childcare to pay for and we don't and no doubt your PIL are the same. They can afford it and of course they are not saying you cannot but just want to treat you. Sounds like you are having a good time with your son and that is what it is all about. I do not know how your wife can be difficult about kids activities and you may have a point that maybe they don't want her back if she can be difficult. Can you offer to buy them a meal or drink on the last day? Is that tomorrow? Our daughters treated us all to a last meal at the pancake house as that is our favourite place to eat at CP as a thank you. Just a simple thank you also goes a long way.
You have six weeks minimum presumably with your son at home from school so maybe do as we have been doing today and think of some ideas for things you can do with him. My son in law built a bug house to go in the garden with my grandchildren and they helped him. Nature hunts on walks are a good idea as well as the usual things like beach trips or maybe a ride in your mates MG. Try not to take everything so personally. Your FIL treating you and your mate lending you his MG is not a slight on you. Friends and relatives do favours all the time for each other. Doesn't mean they think you are a charity case.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Day 45 through. Been another really good day, 100% blessed with the weather but I'm whacked now can't respond to everyone but thanks. Had a better sleep last night but still not much and now got a banging headache. Not touched the work today beyond a quick look over emails twice. Going to try to sleep soon, get my chill app on lol. Steady drive back to NG tomorrow and taking my in-laws out for lunch before we head off.
Know you're all right on here re payment of the break/ activities/ etc etc, just is something I'm really uncomfortable with suppose the money is all I'm good for generally know that much. My son is not their only grandchild, but family is what they are all about; couldn't wish for better grandparents, they are 100% one of the best in the business with kids absolute pros.
My son probably would like the Cubs/ Beavers tbf. He does do activities at school.
Wife was upset about both of those activities because they were 1 child/ 1 adult so she couldn't join in. Her dad made it known he thought she was a !!!!!! embarrassment which she was 33 years old and bawling her eyes out about not joining in kids archery and football this time. !!!!!! hilarious really; tbf she was !!!!!! mortified this morning. Idk what's gong on with her, don't even think she does. Asked her what she wants to do this coming weekend and all she could come up with was eating my chicken roast dinner, having a look at the other set of wheels on the car ha fml and watching a film together can do that no problem, no spas or shops win win suits me. 100 I'll wind up with the !!!!!! wheels job, guarantee it. She reckons she's doing it with our son but I don't reckon she's going to get the wheels lifted onto the hubs tbh she's got no strength whatsoever at the moment struggling with building her strength back because she doesn't eat enough but still exercises a lot !!!!!! catch 22 for her. Not being stupid about food she's just full after about 5 mouthfuls I def don't have that !!!!!! problem; ate too much here need to get a grip before I'm too !!!!!! fat to fit in my clothes ha fml.

Day 45 and a great weekend what's not to like........
Good move on the lunch, it rounds the trip off with a nice thank you.
If getting really stuck for the weekend invite the in laws round for the afternoon to watch the wife do a kick about with son......
Hope it has sunk in even though you have your differences the in laws are good people to have in your life, the more you engage with them the increased support you get with dealing with the wife.6 -
Glad you have had a good weekend away and well done on getting to day 45. That is a great achievement.
It will be day 60 before you know it2 -
Day 46 saying it’s through if I have to !!!!!! lock myself in my house ha - get back to 3 staff Covid isolating fml. Apart from that been a nice day but I’ll be glad when the !!!!!! pings are done lol. Had to go to the office to help rejig things around but another nice day in all. Spent just shy of £60 on lunch. Wife brought me one of those coffee crunch things from Starbucks this afternoon fml last thing I need rn I’m 4.5kg up over pre !!!!!! rehab weight. Tomorrow I’m back in that gym and on the chicken salad for the foreseeable haha.0

Lunch bargain feeding the in-laws and yourself before the trip home.
Could be one of your rewards for 45day?
If not already in place regular testing for all on the payroll with emphasis on exposure situations, going out jobs and kids(schools have been a hotbed).
Don't overdo the weight reduction, like the money stop the kg debt going up and bring down at a comfortable rate.0 -
@getmore4less haha meant to be bad weather this weekend I think so no inviting in-laws round to my garden. Just want a bit of a peaceful weekend really I think. Had a good time this weekend and not complaining !!!!!! bargain for £60 haha they can take us there more often lol.The Christmas breaks there look quite good on my Mrs’ to do to have a look at that.Summer is pretty much planned I’m meant to be on 4 days working to fit in some of these days out / weekend plans but who knows if that’ll happen. Next week I’ll def be working 5 days. Already told my son that next week plans are going to need to wait until Saturday. First time I’ve let him down but needs must. We’ve not had much issue with school and it’s been done a week for son but this is why 2/3 are isolating - they’re absolutely !!!!!! rife with it. Have the testing in place. I need to check rules again completely !!!!!! confused where we are with it now tbh.I’ve become quite !!!!!! gluttonous with food past few months. It’s being off the coke 100% I know that just need to make sure I don’t become an absolute fat !!!!!!.@RelievedSheff thank you, 14 days to get there, 2 weeks doesn’t seem that long famous last !!!!!! words there ha. Bet you’re boiling in that new build? Its hot enough here. 😆0

While you had a great weekend mine went down hill.
Last week there was a holiday deal we would have done.
Had a booking we could have changed and that comedy at Loughborough on Sat looked good so we passed on the holiday to do them.
Both have been postponed(covid) while those on the holiday are having a great time great weather...... There will be another one.
If you can't manage the 4 day week to free up a day try to make up son time with other time in the week while he is off, even squeezed in lunch(Mc) is good or allocated time early evening with a bit of later work once he is in bed and time in the morning.
On testing at work look at the guidance enhance if needed to feel more secure.
Consult staff.
App pings are guidance but best to PCR before having people back.

Have got to the end of day 46. Spent a bit of time going through my photos I took of son/ wife over the weekend with my wife. Found a few for in-laws, easy b/day present to send some framed pics of their daughter and grandson. Wife got my !!!!!! boot camp regime for next week sorted haha moan about it but I do quite enjoy it once I get to the gym. Meal plan for week lol she’s got me back on the mfp and I’ve got her on it for the gain. Can’t pretend I’m not jealous, that’s a nice place to be; working on gaining weight. I’m def a fat !!!!!! at heart ha giving her a few ideas of high calorie things she can add into her diet. She made me laugh asking if that’s what I do at work then - spend all day eating like a gluttonous !!!!!! haha. Tbf she’s pretty !!!!!! disgusted with my weight gain, can’t blame her didn’t exactly have the physique of Brad the labourer before ha. Mind she’s gone off him since he came out the villa - still following him on IG, I asked her if she wants to go and live there (some council bungalow in Geordieland with his nana less privacy than CP with the in-laws) hahaha.
@RelievedSheff I can believe it mate. Apparently it’s only going to get hotter according to news app this evening. Tbh its nice if you’re doing nothing but can’t say I love it when I’m working. If your office has A/C you’ll be glad you’re back next week ha.
@getmore4less I need to read up the rules again mate going to now I think or at least email myself with it and send through to my girl dealing with it tbf I think she’s on the ball with it generally, idk got enough going on with work it’s !!!!!! madness still rn. Not complaining, I’m never going to complain when I’m turning the money but few more hours in the day and staff might be nice. Considering getting another 1 but already up 2 by the time the new 3 start and the old 1 has left bit of a gamble to take another rn though if I can find someone with the right exp probably going to go for it - someone with projects and management exp as well as the other stuff would be ideal when things slow down good time to find a few bargains/ concentrate a bit more on management side etc.
Fml binning off a hol when the weather is like this for a cancelled event that’s !!!!!! unfortunate mate, real shame. You’re right will be another one - I never looked at things like that a few years back tbh taken people on here saying words to the effect of ‘there’s another time mate’ and some of the stuff I’ve been doing on the recovery side to make me think a bit more.
I did have a think tonight about next week, make the effort to get up early Friday and finish lunchtime - I’ve missed out on enough time with my boy over the years don’t need to carry on down that road.
