And I imagine in your heart you know that a good education for your son is more important than a sports car that you'll probably want to upgrade a few years in. That's what being a good parent is, making sacrifices for your children (so you are a good parent!). I've given up travelling and many holidays over the last few years to give my kids an amazing house and lifestyle (in my opinion 😂). In a few years we'll get back to doing what we enjoy, but for now whilst the kids are young they are a priority!Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years
Re-mortgage Oct 2017 - 78,295 over 23 years
Re-mortgage Jan 2020 - 55,000 over 26 years @ 1.94%
Current Mortgage Outstanding Middle December 2020 - £47893.35 - a reduction of £42,652 in just over 6 years!3 -

@enthusiasticsaver I’m talking about the ones who live in £100k houses, drive cars with tiny engines, eat for £2 a day and buy their clothes in charity shops or whatever - there are ones on here. Can live on £1.5k/m or something like some of my tenants.

One of my favorite quotes goes thus: Wealthy people invest first and spend what’s left and broke people spend first and invest what’s left.

Tbh I agree re money as a resource/ tool/ whatever. Always wanted as much as I can get and don’t really love the knowledge I’m not doing so well re my budget not really matching my appetite for spending. Said on here before only thing that outweighs my appetite for earning is my appetite for spending which I need to address and am doing so or I’m always going to be struggling to make ends meet.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Day 11
Yeah you’re right re school. Only thing I’ve really been able to give him so far - things that can be bought. Hope that won’t be the case moving forwards and can be a better dad. Def working on that one of my main motivations to work on recovery - my son and my wife. That and I hate me on coke not a nice person but off it I’m a bit better.
To clarify I’m not being critical of anyone’s choices if you’re happy. @Bargainhunter30 I’ve got a lot of admiration for you being happy with your choices. I def need to keep working on comparing myself less to others and the envy does me no favours. Better with that when I’m off the substances too.
@PiPi2019 Re investment in a roundabout way I actually fit into that ‘wealthy person’ mentality if you count investing retained, the issue is once it gets into my pocket it’s then I !!!!!! it for myself.
@theoretica ha know where you’re coming from - need to be happy with the spends being lower than when I was just buying without considering value at all. Keep running my life like a business and I’ll be ok. Actually said this in therapy but I do have everything apart from the sports car so in a roundabout way have all boxes ticked except for that one, so just working on nicer boxes really as my mate with the MG says he thinks I’m ‘rich broke’ as opposed to ’broke broke’ haha.

Managed to wake up positive again today. Decent nights sleep, day planned out. Realised work time planned out no matter what as got a secretary who does it for me and fml I don’t want to cross her haha. Need to have a think on the accountability for the personal life as tbh I’m concerned how I’m going to be when I do have a bad day. This road though is 100% better than a few highs and the rest of the time having through the roof anxiety or so !!!!!! depressed I start the !!!!!! cycle all over again.3

It’s so good to hear you sounding positive. It’s a good idea to have a plan in place for a bad day so you don’t ruin all your hard work.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Budget looks good and very achievable.
Five years will fly by. That's what we keep telling ourselves2 -
Thanks both. Plan this evening to get a bit further on the plans for rest of this year/ June.In other news my MP is the 23 year old girl who’s gone off on post traumatic stress fml. I !!!!!! despair at the places that border my part of the city and I end up sharing a parliamentary constituency with lol. Already had a message from my BIL £650k to border !!!!!! St Ann’s to one side and Forest Fields to the other fml haha he thinks it’s !!!!!! hilarious have to laugh or I’d !!!!!! cry lol. Apologies for those not from around here but know there’s a few who’ll find it amusing.
