Don't focus on sleep as the answer either. It doesn't matter if you don't - just have something else ready to do if you can't sleep. Something to read, a snack, a bottle of water....whatever. If you don't sleep 7 hours for a couple of days you will have a decent sleep eventually. Take time to discover your natural sleep pattern. It will take your body a while to catch up with itself and fall back into what you need. Have you thought about trying something like reflexology to help you relax? It's a good coping strategy - I had sessions for a year after I was left widowed with a 4 year old and it was definitely a positive thing.
Talking of news articles, I read one which reminded me of you. I won't post it as you're talking sense again now and new alt, new diary but it wasn't good and it's worth making as much effort as you can to claw yourself back up the slope of addiction to the top until you are back on safe ground...... As for friends, most of us here may not be real life friends but there's a lot of straight talking been done, people have taken the time to try and help you when they didn't have to and enjoy seeing you making an effort to sort your life out. That's what real friends do so I'd say you have plenty. If ever there's a grand opening of "Alt Towers" or some such thing we'll be expecting an invite ha ha! Some of my real life friends that I'm very close to started off as online friends so don't knock it.
Right, I have to go - I'm off to drop one of my online friends turned real to hospital for a procedure. Once again, don't underestimate your online friends. Nobody is paying us to talk to you.8 -
New diary and refocus on the finances sounds like a good plan and also a good new start.
Being in control of the finances does give you a lot of positives and its a mirror for other stuff too.
As usual @getmore4less has nailed the crux of all this so I'll just wish you luck
Will look forward to your new accountability diary and the numbers when you're ready. Hopefully it will feel a bit like you're casting off the previous baggage and feed into the new start mindset.2 -
I also just wanted to wish you luck! You can do this. You and your family deserve happiness.1

Day 5.Haha thanks all. Literally have had my life taken over with my cal going off never considered using it outside of work to any extent but all good so far. Just running my life like a business cope and done alright in that area so apply same principles to the other parts of life and might be on a winner. Worth a try, not like the other way was working.Last night did have a better sleep managed 6.5hours so happy with that. Hoping for same or 7 tonight but we’ll see.In the plan to get a hold on the personal money and start a new diary for the accountability.11
