Your desire to do this from home is an emotional one and I think one that most of us can understand. However if the pros think residential is the only way you won't be tempted by sniffing coke, drinking alcohol, hiding away in your office or not engaging fully in the detox process then I hope you make a decision with your head and fully engage with this. Tough I know but in the long run you need more help as doing it on your own isn't working. Whether we hear from you later or in a month or so I hope you manage to get clean for good this time. Good luck today. Residential rehab sounds scary because it takes you out of your comfort zone. There won't be any distractions or temptations, you will have to confront yourself. If it gets you off this horrible self-destructive path that has shot your self-esteem to pieces, I'd say it is worth a stay. I haven't read your whole diary, but I've defo picked up this much..... that when you are on the self-destruct path, you wallow in self-loathing & sound utterly miserable & stressed to pieces. But when you are trying hard with your personal goals, the tone of your posts changes & I can hear what sounds like a decent man trying to get out.
You like to win. Well atm, this addiction is beating you. Don't let it. Take the professional advice offered for yourself & your family. All the best.
