First Steps to Solvency

Spent a bit of time on figures this afternoon. Not going to attempt to post the contents of a spreadsheet on here again as just ends up being a nightmare lol but have assumed BoJo's lockdown easing happens as predicted and gone through the spends.
Looking at having a total of £6.255k to find to meet the 0% deadlines in July. If I've got rid of the BMW for the last three payments the total going on new purchase card is £2.34k and if I keep the BMW total on new purchase is £3.75k assuming spends keep to the estimated (accounts for booking the Greece trip and another weekend, wife's birthday etc. fair few spends that may or may not happen depending on BoJo). If the Mercedes is any good I'll be calling to cancel the BM next month, if not back to the drawing board. Seriously considered the I-Pace but it's so (Removed by Forum Team) I can't cope with it and also don't want a 4 door car ideally so massively cuts available cars. Not many RWD coupes around these days let alone ones with lowish BIK and don't want to take too much from the business or it'd be C63 time ha- keep what I can retained.
@theoretica fair point tbh maybe I am just slightly (Removed by Forum Team) by nature or something idk. Not meant to upset anyone, you've got me paranoid now haha.3 -
I think most people would prefer to be asked rather than told. However as your wife doesnt work I would think she would notice if the car needed cleaning or the lawnmower needed sorting. I dont expect my husband to give me a list of instructions each day as I can see what needs to be done any more than I would tell him that he needs to clean the car or whatever. However I or he might say have you noticed that ---- needs doing. Remember she is your wife not a slave and deserves to be spoken to with respect.

Still whacked but can’t relax this evening at all. Had a busy day and can’t really switch off managed to park the work stuff but have set up another spreadsheet for the planned hols lol - going to make sure I get best value on the flights etc. No wonder the wife is always !!!!!! off with me ha, can’t sit down and relax very often. She downs tools after dinner and that’s it for the day finds my behaviour even stranger now I’m sat in same room rather than in my office all night haha.
Sorted the weekend plans also -
Friday night - going to do the date night 3 course meal, bottle of wine and a film
Saturday - walk we meant to do last week, eng/ fr match with the h/m pizzas. Weather is meant to be !!!!!! unfortunately so might cut that walk tbh just do half again.
Sunday - mother’s day. Cake bake fest FML lol and day of cooking for me.
Plan to update this when I do spends keep me accountable, possibly going to need to keep on the straight and narrow once the world starts opening up lol. Make sure the new purchase card doesn’t start getting silly.
April-July (0% runs out on 2 cards) plan for debts as follows -
Lot isn’t variable so no change there but the following is either variable or planned spends:
General:
Food - £1.6k
Alcohol - £200
Coffee out - £200
Fuel - £1.2k (bit concerned about this once out of lockdown tbh will see but may need to review only just struggling to get fuel down to £300 now in lockdown and only doing business miles right now - don’t get far in 18mpg RR for £300/m)
Entertainment / eating out - £1k
Needs & wants:
Son (school etc accounted for obvs as not variable)
Clothing - £200
Clubs - £150
Wife (fully aware this is what she’s working to not v happy about it but knows the score haha)
Tennis - £340
Hair - £200
Beauty - £200
Clothing - £250
Occasions - £250
Me (Ha no !!!!!! budget to do anything myself until after my 0% is gone)
Hair - £50
Family days - £250
Greece - £750
Weekends - £245/£750
Max new debt on P1 - £3750
Can’t think of any other items for interim budget 1. All fits within the yearly budget and forecast until 04.24 when the big one is due. Def feel like I’m winning 100% for once in my life ha.

@ladyholly ha no notice taken of anything, she literally waits for a list of what to do lol. My fault going back to the early days tbh but no sense of responsibility.
@annabanana82 haha I'm self aware enough to know tbh. 😆1 -
Today is Day 49 - 7 weeks by some miracle have got there.
Realised I've missed son's hair off IntB1, also been thinking on and off whilst reading some articles about the fuel, really not sure it's realistic and thinking I should probably add another tank/m. Hate it when it seems like I'm going backwards rather than forwards with the budget. Went through a stage of denial / avoidance so really only just getting to the point of cobbling something realistic for postlockdown life. Wife is whinging about her budget now it's dawned on her how little she has to spend. Despite finding some more stuff to sell and withdrawing other stuff she had up for sale (part of the G-Wagen !!!!!! - she decided she wasn't going to pay for my debts) - she's not actually put anything up for sale. Asked her if she's going to do it over the next few days now turned into will she get extra spends. Told her no - we really need to do this properly I think or we're never going to learn how to live to a budget and the whole cycle will continue imo so she's sulking about it now FML.
Meant to add this is April - July so doesn't count from now - this starts from 26th March until July when I need to meet the 0% on the two cards. Only reason anniversary evening is on there already is because it was only budgeted for in the yearly so counts in this lot - makes sense in my head ha. Panicking a bit about it tbt it's a very restrictive budget for us when the world is open. We've done well in lockdown but once things open up I do know the temptation is going to be there.Update

Let her sulk it out. She will soon realise that sulking doesn't work2

The budget for your wife’s stuff is still generous. I’m sure she must’ve played a part in accumulating the debt, it can’t all be down to you. Once the debts are paid will her budget be going up? If so would the promise of that happening pacify her. Well done on reaching day 49, very impressive achievement.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Another sign of her not growing up I think. If she wants to sulk about her budget let her get on with it it (better than crying anyway). I do thing though that if she is prepared to sell some of her stuff you could split the proceeds with her. You also need to challenge this idea that the debt is yours alone it isnt, she has been quite happy to spend vast amounts of money on stuff she doesnt need and will probably never use. Just as an interesting exercise have a look and see what clothes she has that she has never worn and point those out to her as part of the debt.

^^^^^This caught my eye as it has history

you : She wants to be romanced like it’s some relationship we’re three months into a relationship going home tonight to some BS three course candlelit ‘date night’, FML we’re ten years married not sure what she doesn’t get tbh lol.
You: Does this ‘date night’ BS regularly. Yeah I know she’s only trying shouldn’t be !!!!!! off with her. Particularly annoyed tonight as I had planned to join a LLs zoom catch-up. No chance getting away from her at 8pm for an hour now lol.
12Jan
Me : Don't forget it is now your turn to sort out a date night
You :. @getmore4less are you taking the !!!!!! mate lol?
That is just one example. what is becoming very clear(if you go back over the last few months) is you are just a bit slow at picking things up that people are telling you.
Takes about 2 months for stuff to sink in( not a coincidence with the 49 days I suspect)
Still to much into extremes but it does seem to be getting better.
