Full fat milk and proper butter here too.

Hubby grew up on a dairy farm so won't consider anything else - I use that as my excuse but in truth, I think its much nicer too.

Not sure what's going on with the dieting as not been keeping up but if the whole family is on chicken salads because of your wife's issue then that's mental. Kids especially need proper nutrition but adults do too, won't be helping with energy levels! If she wants to do that then leave her to it but your son especially needs to eat properly. Also a recipe for an eating disorder down the line...

Re: bodyscan, please don't waste the money. Speak to your consellor about it instead. To me it sounds like you're still very anxious and this is your way of trying to justify it to yourself/explain it away. Better off trying to get to the real cause through therapy.

Re scans- Paid for the body scans before, wife doesn’t want me going down the health road again but I’m not going to get obsessive about it - get the tests done and park it if nothing found. Know it’ll cost me - already asked to be sent on referral but fobbed off again and as said before my insurance doesn’t cover speculative tests. GPs just fob me off like they always do never take my health problems seriously.

Not being a hypochondriac about it but fatigue can be a symptom of heart issues. Every evening 7-8pm ish I’m completely whacked to the point I could get in bed that is 100% not normal. Don’t get breathless or anything like that but do think there might be something not quite right. Off the stimulants so not that most days hardly even have any caffeine. This morning I did have 2 3 shot coffees back to back just to see if I got the palpitations. GP won’t even run bloods, did have a blood test not that long ago and it was all ok but wasn’t as whacked then.

Don’t want to be one of those people who have something undetected for years and at the point the professionals actually investigate got some incurable disease or dodgy organ that could have been dealt with at an earlier point but too late - see them in the news all the time. 100% they probably think I’ve been on the chang and wasting their time, don’t blame them really but told them they can drug test me any day they like if that reassures them.

Re cruise/ hols - thanks. I don’t really fancy it personally. @annabanana82 you’ve not made me any more keen ha. Wife looking as she’s off IG probably idk just hope she doesn’t book anything tbh.

Re milk - haha all coming out of hiding now lol. Wife has said that about butter v spreads too.

Fatigue was explained to us as something different - actually falling asleep in the middle of the afternoon or when being driven in a car etc. What you’re describing just sounds like regular tired. I’ve yet to find a parent of a small child who doesn’t feel like that and you’ve just dropped 3 substances, aren’t getting anywhere near enough sleep and haven’t been eating enough calories or variety of nutrients and are probably short on sunshine. I would be worried if you weren’t tired! Start with some red meat, a vitamin supplement and a holiday. If you’re still feeling like this in 6 months time (I guess you can refer back to here to remember exactly how you’re feeling) then maybe think about the scan then.
PS - if it was unexplained weight loss then I might also be more concerned

How much water are you drinking?

Starving and dehydration, that's a form of torture.

If you are losing weight probably over 1k
short on calories that's 6 cans of Guinness.

Try feeding yourself first cheaper than a scan

WRT the cruise, when I did a cruise I went for an inside room, you spend little time in there and I slept so well. My parents always go for an outside cabin the balcony was tiny so you'd be looking a suite if you wanted something decent. My parents went for this once but would rather go for the outside cabin and put the rest of the money towards another holiday.
Food is included, drinks aren't but are broadly in line with pub prices, from memory cocktails are around £7/8. You can buy a drinks package but that's £40 a day each.
They aren't that posh, I did a Caribbean cruise and was a bit taken aback by some of the people on board - I know that's incredibly judgemental, snobbish and wrong of me to think it, but I'd hazard a guess your wife may be with me on that one.
I did feel the holiday was good value for money, under £100 per night, but the shops do sell a selection of designer bags and clothes, not much and may or may not appeal to your wife.

The pool (on the Britannia at least) wasn't heated  so not much fun until we hit sunnier climes it was also tiny, it can be choppy and you do feel it. I'm not sure I'd take children and mine are older than yours.

One advantage is that depending how far out to sea you go, you're reliant on the ships wifi which is poor, needs to be paid for and it'll cost a fortune for roaming (it'll go to maritime something or other) and calls are expensive.

All that said, I did enjoy it, and I'd jump at the chance for a trip on the Iona.
We did a Caribbean cruise on the Britannia last February, just before  Covid happened and agree with you about the pool and the people. It was just way too crowded for us on the sun decks. As you say the WiFi is poor and expensive to use data roaming although Europe would be cheaper. We liked the entertainment, the lectures about the ship and the ports and of course the food. I have to say I prefer the smaller ships like but they just seem to be building them bigger and bigger. Easy way to travel though.

Lack of carbs causes fatigue amongst many other symptoms. If you’ve only been eating chicken salad you won’t have been getting enough carbs and if you’re exercising a lot you need more carbs not less. You should never cut out a food group without a medical reason.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

I did really enjoy it, but I was much in need of a holiday after a stressful year. I did the transatlantic from Southampton the October before your Cruise, but I'd be looking at flying to and from if I were to do another Caribbean cruise and possibly the 35 day one...
It was a great way to travel, far easier than airports. I really should have got my Dad to come on some of the lectures about the ship as I do find that rather interesting, I was also curious about the supply chain but that's kind of my job.
The captain's thought of the day with Rob Camby were a particular highlight for us.
When allowed I think we'll do a Norwegian cruise with my parents.
