Accident advice on motorway roundabout

Yes and no, you can google, whoever took the picture if they were driving at the time, could be in violation of not being in charge of the vehicle, there are episodes where someone eating an apple at traffic lights got done, it doesn't have to be a mobile phone.ElephantBoy57 said:
I thought that was just for mobile phone use, that is a camera taking those photos.AdrianC said:Six points for using a hand-held mobile while driving. You've just kinda proved that you were doing exactly that.0 -
We get so many posts about accidents on roundabouts. It's easy, proceed with caution, assume everyone else won't proceed with caution.
In this case, those road markings are so contradictory that I wouldn't put any trust in them. The writing says you can turn off from the right hand lane but the white line "suggests" you can't. The writing says you can't go round from the left hand lane but the white line "suggests" you can.
If I used that road regularly I wouldn't risk it, if it was my first time I'd either look around very carefully before taking the exit or go round again.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1 -
thanks for your input.Mercdriver said:Looking at the actual approach to the turn off, there is no way I would ever ever be in the offside lane. I think the best yoou can hope for is 50/50.
Surely just because you would never do it doesnt make it wrong tho?
going off the highway code I used road markings which told me otherwise, third party didn't and was in the wrong lane0 -
That's a much simpler roundabout in that diagram in HC. From the google view alone I wouldn't have taken the turning from the right hand lane. I would not be comfortable with it, regardless of road markings. You are the one driving, not the council guy that painted the road. If they offer 50/50, bite their hands off. It's not going to be better than that...jordystreet said:

I understand its much simpler but the same rules still apply, I can take your point of view aswell thats lines need to be placed a lot better, but from what I can tell I followed the lane that said I could use the m18 from that position and the other driver tried to follow the road around when it stated m18 only, google view is outdated on this roundabout and looking at google myself from your point of view I wouldnt of done it either but like I said the markings said I could so I didMercdriver said:

There can be errors in marking. Many are confusing and/or incorrect. I can't see it being any better than 50/50.0

Thats actually really interesting, I read the actual judgement and it got dismissed since the camera use is an internal function of the phoneElephantBoy57 said:DUTR said:Yes and no, you can google, whoever took the picture if they were driving at the time, could be in violation of not being in charge of the vehicle, there are episodes where someone eating an apple at traffic lights got done, it doesn't have to be a mobile phone.“The legislation does not prohibit all use of a mobile phone held while driving. going off the highway code I used road markings which told me otherwise, third party didn't and was in the wrong laneFirst, it doesn't matter that he was in the "wrong" lane. That doesn't entitle you to enter that lane without taking the necessary care.Second, those lane markings are not mandatory. They are an aid to navigation.0
