    Fantastic 😀! Wonderful news!
    Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️🧚‍♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed

Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!
  • Day 2, also excellent! Learning lots already and enjoying it. Just trying to get a handle on the boss, very dry sense of humour I think which is right up my street but tricky to figure these things out over video conference haha!

    Round up of March:

    The good:
    - most spends under budget (except food)
    - decent mortgage OP
    - opened S&S ISA as part of our "here we come early retirement" plans
    - 1 good week of exercise and 2 average (less said about the 1 bad the better!)
    - decorated another room in the house!

    The not so good:
    - only 1lb lost versus 6lbs in Feb
    - food shopping about £80 over budget. Need to get a handle on this, think there is other stuff sneaking in here that I need to split out into other categories (booze I am looking at you!). I meal plan but we do waste too much fresh still.

    Aims for April:
Its a bit pay month with holiday pay coming in from old job so:
    - mortgage OP to be made
    - £100 to invest into LT funds (amaware this should be far higher....need to figure out the balance longer term but trying to top up the general savings atm as hoping to start tying for kids soon and so will need a fund to cover some Mat Leave)
    - general saving account to be topped up
    - must do better at training....have signed up to a big event later in the year which needs al) lot of training for!
    - get a handle on food budget, need a few more cheap eat nights (omelette, eggs on toast....any other ideas?!)
Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
    OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

  • Why can't every weekend be 4 days long?!

Went for a good long run this morning (well 10kms but thats long if you ask me!) and then a cheeky stop at the bakery for a treat to reward the run (the "naughty" food treat cancelled out by the "good" of the run right?!). Then a food shop, coming in under budget for the week and included some extras for Easter baking so that was a success and included good meals for the week, managed to get 3 veggie dinners in for the week and husband hasn't noticed 😆

Now off to watch some more European rugby 😀

Personally I would have eschewed the bakery and the run, and hoped they cancelled each other out 🤣 I'm also loving the 4-day weekend, sad it's halfway over 😥

  • That's brilliant! It will be so nice to be in the 2s! I remember when we ticked down to the 2s, it was so exciting. And then we borrowed a load for home improvement....

I get very excited when we click down to the next £100k mark. My total mortgage with DH is £203k at the moment. July can't come quickly enough for me to see it dip below £200k. That's what passes for excitement in my household!!

  • Did our food shop at Morrisons and asked for the key workers discount and apparently it has ended....so my husband said "back to Lidl from next weekend then", my training has obviously started to pay off lol 😆

Booked a hair cut for mid May and have a few dates and meet ups booked in....think its going to be an expensive few months catching up with people etc so need to keep a close eye on the budget!
