  • Yes, was a holiday originally booked for early 2020, got pushed back to late 2020, part way through 2021 and then to this time. And we finally made it! The testing was a pain and added a fortune to the cost thanks to lost tests from Royal Mail...but we made it! Had a phenomenal time and just really felt like myself and relaxed properly for the first time in what felt like forever. Now to try keep the more relaxed feeling up as I head into the office for the first time this year....

2022 will be the year a lot of people catch up on that "relax" feeling

well done for ending with your targets met.  the future you will be saying thank you for each of the extra months you will be MF sooner than otherwise you would be,  yes its going to be a long journey - especially with kids but had I made those decisions I would be MF now.  I got it covered, but it would have been sweet to be there a few years prior
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

  • Hi all, another crazy month...I work in finance so been having end of year fun!

Good news is made an OP of £1,175 (made to my Premium Bonds) and won £75 on Premium Bonds, so a good start to Feb. Less good news is husband had some CC expenses from our holiday that he didnt tell me about till ydy, which means we actually went over budget (mostly due to last minute COVID tests so it's not the end of the world, but annoying that he has waited until a month later to tell me!).

Anyway, definitely been a bit lazy with the finances being so busy at work and coming back from holiday etc meant January was filled with treats, but if it's happening almost daily, its not a treat! So am going to be much more organised for Feb, have got some frozen pizzas and bits in which should reduce the need / desire for takeaways. And plan to watch 6 Nations games with friends at home as far cheaper than the pub!

  • Hi rugbymadfamily. Just wanted to say I've read through your diary from start to finish and really enjoyed it! You've been so focused and done so well with the overpayments. Hope all is going well this year and you're still enjoying the (not so) new job!
