Mytrip Refund

I like a lot of people had my family holiday cancelled due to Covid 19.. I had booked with Mytrip flights to Singapore with AirSingapore.....I was able to eventually contact Mytrip to request a refund.. that was over a month and a half ago... I now receive a email from Mytrip every two weeks or so telling me the refund is still pending...
My concern is that from previous search’s of the internet other have had to wait several months with still no refund and that was before Covid...

Anyone have any positive experience with Mytrip and getting their money back..
Should I wait or trying and get my money back through Charge back on my Visa card?

    Option 2 forthwith !!
  • Hi Wayne, you could try chargeback but in the experience of thousands of others IF you have been promised a refund they will likely decline it.   You probably have no alternative but to wait.   But nothing stopping you trying.

How can they decline it if they have not paid the money back in the appropriate timescale ?

you could check with Singapore Airlines to confirm if they have issued the refund to MyTrip (their customer) Third parties won't refund until they receive the refund from the airline....they may still be waiting for it...some airlines are taking many weeks/months

What is the appropriate timescale now though?   Forget the 14 day rule that went out months ago.  As I said they can try but plenty of people have had their requests declined because they had been promised a refund.  6 weeks in current climate doesn’t seem excessive but OP can submit claim and see what happens.

In my experience Singapore Airlines were quite poor at paying out and refunding my cancelled flights.  Lots of chasing and weeks of waiting.  Ours were some of the first flights impacted by Cv19 back in mid-March and the refund did not come back to us until early June. This was booking direct with the airline.

Quite possible that MyTrip are having the same issues with the airline.  They certainly won’t pay you until they receive the refund from SQ.

Buying the tickets via an American ticket seller won’t help ease the process either.

Since 1 October MyTrip has not sent me their twice monthly "your refund is still pending with the airline" update emails. Are other people still receiving these?

Which airline was it?....some are taking 2 months+ for refunds (possibly longer for agents bookings)

ElAl, April flights. First I approached the airline and I am in their system. Then a few months ago I contacted MyTrip who I booked with. Only asking for one of them to come through!

Assuming ElAl cancelled the flights it is up to MyTrip (as the airline's customer) to request the refund. Once they receive it they should deduct their fees and return the remainder to you.
Might be worth another call to ElAl to confirm that the refund was requested and, if so, if and when they have refunded MyTrip.
Too late for card chargeback but you may have options for S75 if over £100
