Your totals are looking great. I think you have the right balance of paying things off but still enjoying life.

    Thanks all.

It has felt a long time coming for us to gain control of our finances and to feel as though we are heading in the right direction. Certainly don't ever want to go back to how we were in the past again!!

Mortgage day today. The overpayment this month is £106 as usual.

Breakfast and lunch are from stores today. But we are having a KFC for dinner after work. We need to go to the vets after work to pick up the dogs flea and worming treatments. We are going to take him for a walk in the big park opposite the vets. He will enjoy that.

No jobs to do tonight. So a steady evening for us all.

What a horrible day. The weather is vile this morning. It is still dark!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was porridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is some Dexter ribe eye steak with sweet potato chips, beer battered onion rings, stuffed mushroom and grilled peppers and tomatoes.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog (he won't like that if it is still raining heavily)
    • cleaning the kitchen
We have taken the decision to reduce our credit card repayment for this month and next month from £300 to £100 a month to give us some extra spends for France. We normally wouldn't bother as we know roughly what we spend per day when we are away but for the first week or so we are away with friends who we know like to eat out more than we do so we would like a bit of extra money set aside for that. If the money doesn't get spent then it will be paid off the card balance when we get back.

That’s a really good idea. Also you might see something you want to buy you can’t get here.

What a completely different start to the day from yesterday. Blue skies and sunshine at long last.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is spag bol and garlic bread.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • vacuuming the house

    Agreed.

We also need to be wary of how much fuel we will use. We reckon it will probably be a 2000 mile round trip so that's a fair amount of fuel to budget for.

Again had we been on our own then we probably wouldn't have planned to do as much driving or as much distance. But we shall see how that pans out.
