alt80 said:It’s good to come on here and see you are doing so well. Balances going down nicely and not using credit for things that really we all ought be able not to.That car of yours does seem to be needing a fair amount of work - not sure what your replacement plans are but perhaps something to consider in your mid term.
The plans for the car are to keep it until we have remortaged the house in a few years time and then see if it is ready for replacing. It has plenty of life left in it yet and to be fair too it we should have fixed the gearbox a long time ago when it first started playing up. It was a very pleasant drive home now we have use of all the gears
We tend to keep our vehicles long term rather than swapping and changing them all the time.1 -
Getting through. You have a good plan with the car / replacement. They seem to go through phases of repair / maintenance, I had a Range Rover Sport years back now that I’d owned from new but in the last 18 months of ownership before I swapped it for my previous car it cost a small fortune to keep it running and was continually at the dealership who always found something else that needed fixing idk. You possibly don’t have that with the dealerships maximising their profits from you with your partners line of work tbf they probably saw me coming, certainly at that time I hated to be seen to be asking the cost of things, just an idiot with money really so probably best ignored ha.1

A busy day ahead today. Not ideal that we are both suffering with a cold.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is salmon wellington and vegetables.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- vacuuming the house
- cleaning the bathrooms
- making tomorrow night's Shepherd's pie
- packing the van ready to head out tomorrow after work

Thank goodness it's Friday. It has been a long week this week.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was porridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is Shepherd's pie which just needs dropping in the oven tonight.
We are off to sunny Skeggy after work tonight in the van. We are staying over at a pub tonight, the big one on the way into Skegness and tomorrow we have a night on the Haven site. The other half is a daft lad. It is his birthday on Sunday and when asked where he wanted to go he said here. When he was a child they had a static caravan on the same site we will be staying on so he spent many a summer there.
Could have gone anywhere in the country and he wants to go to Skegness!!1 -

Thanks all.
We had a pleasant drive here last night. The traffic was very light and in the evening sunshine it made for a nice drive. We got here at 8.30pm in time to pitch up and have a few beers.
We will definitely stay here again. We had a very quiet night.
We are not rushing around this morning. We can't get on site until midday. So a few coffee's and some cheese on toast for breakfast and we will head off to Gibraltar Point nature reserve to walk the dog. He loves it there.
We will be having fish and chips for lunch, rude not too while we are here and then we will grab a pizza or something while we are out later.
We are both still sneezing and coughing well with this cold that is doing the rounds. Thought it might have gone away by now!2 -
