@RelievedSheff your workplace really do seem to be struggling with staff retention rn. I have had some similar struggles brought by changing the culture of my business which I had to do. Indirectly, I wonder if your company have some similar challenges iirc you've had a lot of retirees that had to be replaced in fairly quick succession.
@Sun_Addict 100% sometimes a company is just not the right fit for an individual and vice versa.2 -
We are really struggling with staff retention at the minute.
People are moving on for more money. As a smaller company we just can't match the salaries being offered by the big players.
It's a shame some of the younger staff don't realise that it isn't all about the money!1 -
I think it’s brilliant that work got the ice cream van for you.I’ve worked in various schools and the way some of the head teachers treated the staff left a lot to be desired. The last school was one of the better ones as she arranged a shopping morning during December and an hour off during a birthday week….this was achieved by staff covering each other. I thought it was a great incentive….however some of the staff were complaining that the hour had to be taken in your actual birthday week….it was a shopping morning NOT an afternoon. The saying give some people a bar of gold and it would be the wrong shape comes to mind 😏January spends - £587.582

Another hot and sticky day today. I really do wish the weather would pick a temperature and stick too it rather than the all or nothing we seem to be getting instead.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is a BBQ. Still too hot to cook in the kitchen!
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- cleaning the kitchen
- cleaning the bathrooms

@RelievedSheff I've experienced staff moving on purely for money reasons and once for corporate benefits although he had always worked for multinationals. Money is, it seems, on everyone's mind with the way things have gone with rates/rents and the general cost of living. You are in quite a fortunate position now which is all credit to you and your partner - that brings choice to focus on things other than money.
@milann your post raised a smile, every workplace has one (or a few ha).1 -
It was a bit cooler when we woke up this morning. We both slept better for it.
Breakfast this morning was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is coconut, chilli and lime sausages with tortellini and some stir fried veggies from the garden.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- delivering a fathers day present

Last day at work for the week. Looking forward to a weekend at home.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was porridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is hot dogs with sweet potato chips, onion rings and coleslaw.
No jobs to do tonight other than walking the dog. We are going to chill out on the sofa, watch a rubbish film and have a few cold beers. Looking forward to a lie in in the morning.1
