We come under the Roadford Lakes water reservoirs and the levels for this time of year are still apparently very low so Cornwall still has the hosepipe ban in place. You are right the rates are ridiculously high and annoying that they are trying to preserve the water for high level of tourists in summer period. However Cornwall depends on tourism as it is a low wage area so not sure what the answer is. We have had very little rain down here over the last month too so can’t see that ban being lifted.ladyholly said:
I thought the water problem had been sorted with the Dartmoor resevoir which was delayed for many years due to 1 landowner. We used to live in the Torbay area and suffered in the 1970s drought. I sympathise with your water rates as they have always been ridiculously high. We are further north than you I think in the west but we are very lucky as we have never had a shortage in the last 35 years.enthusiasticsaver said:We still have a hosepipe ban down here in the south west and our local garden centre doesn’t put them out. We have the highest bills too 😒. Washing our cars involves a trip to the local car wash or numerous buckets. Presumably no ban up where you are and that’s why you can’t get one?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We met Caleb last year when we went to Diddly Squat. He is a genuinely nice chap.LittleMissDetermined said:Our dog like to watch films and football, it makes me chuckle. I hadn't realised there was a new series of Clarkson's Farm so I will add that to my watchlist. Caleb is my favourite, his relationship with Jeremy and how he gets frustrated is hilarious!1 -
We need to take some inspiration from your varied menu @RelievedSheff. My wife used to pick a few new things from the Goodfood magazine but now just reads it, tbf I do the same think I'll have a go at something new but don't.
Our dog likes the TV / films from time to time.1 -
We don't know if it will be a no spends day or not today. The car is being troublesome this morning. It refused to start first thing so we called the breakdown company, then it decided to start, drove almost to work, we stopped for fuel and then it refused to start again. Fortunately we were close to work by this time so the other half's boss has towed the car to the garage and a work colleague came to pick me up.
Fortunately I have been able to hire a car through work for us to use until Monday. We can extend that if necessary.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is venison sausage with root veg mash and vegetables.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- load of washing
- cleaning the bathrooms
- vacuuming the house
Mind you. Anything beats walking 25 miles each way!!2 -
That's not a great start to the day! But at least you both have great colleagues who were able to come to the rescue. Hopefully a fix won't be too costly for you

Hope the car is sorted and isn’t too expensive.
My friend had a dog that used to run around the room looking for the ball that had just been kicked on tv 😂😂😂January spends - £587.581 -
The good news is the car is fixed and it was a Freeby because the mechanic had not tightened something up properly when he serviced it last 🤣🤣🤣
We have come home in the hire car anyway. May as well while it is paid for. It is a hateful little thing though. Horrible to drive. Going to see if they will take it back tomorrow and reduce the hire charge. If not we will use it over the weekend. Save some miles on outs 😀

Great news on fixing the car for free.
