It is the first of our bigger mortgage overpayments today amongst other direct debits that come out on the first of the month.
Other than that it will be a no spends day. The first of the new month.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores. It was some sourdough toast for breakfast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is garlic, mint and chilli lamb chops with chips and vegetables.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- cleaning the kitchen

The wind has been so bad where we are, I feel like I've not slept properly for days. Hope tonight is better!

I think the wind must be restricted to the northern and midlands area as we do not have it down here in the south west at the moment. Well done on mortgage overpayment. I guess you are doing that because all your unsecured debt is now at 0%?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We have been awarded 20 million from the "levelling up" fund as well so hopefully in the next few years we might start to see some more investment in the area.
It has improved vastly in the four years we have lived here. So fingers crossed for more of the same.
Vesuvius is the biggest recent development I can think of commercially although I don't have much to do with the industrial market and Worksop isn't a place I know particularly well.
Just had a look at the levelling up fund - looks like work on the shopping centre, bit of affordable housing and a couple of infrastructure projects? A lot of the old market towns up that way are similar - town centre full of a certain demographic with nearby property predominantly sold to investors. Families live in nearby new build developments and don't use local facilities. It continues until there is something to attract the newcomers into the town centre.1 -

There has been some development on High Grounds Lane on the opposite side of the A57 with a new hotel, restaurant and a few fast food outlets.
DHL have built a massive new distribution warehouse out by the Wilko warehouse and there are plans to build a couple of others on the same site.
To be fair to the town centre some money is being spent at the top end near the cinema. Two of the yards have recently been renovated into small units. Not sure what will go in those yet. They are not open yet.
It will be nice to see some further investment in Worksop. You are right about the certain democratic and the investor housing and I'm not sure how a balance can be struck there and encourage owner occupiers back into these areas.1 -
I think they’ve completed 1 of 3 phases. What’s uptake been like? You are well connected in terms of the road network so I am not surprised re the DHL and further plans.
Whilst I’ve never invested in Worksop, I’ve got a few houses Mansfield way and it’s a similar type of area. Will be at the office all night and never get home if I start postulating how a balance could be struck though.0 -
