CSCS test passed thankfully. Only just though, but just enough is good enough. Plenty of people have failed it today. I'm sure they have made the test harder!!
Sheffield council are absolutely destroying the road system in the city. They are closing off all of the well known "rat runs" and forcing traffic onto the main roads which now can not cope with the extra volume of traffic. It is genuinely quicker to walk for some morning and evening sections now.
It is now taking me 20 minutes to drive from my work to pick the other half up at his work after work. A journey which can be done in 5 minutes with the right traffic conditions. It will only get worse once the extra winter traffic starts again as well

I’ve walked through that tunnel many times….it’s an amazing view when you come back into the daylight.I’m heading to your neck of the woods on Wednesday. My dd is travelling home with the gks. The trains into my home town are absolutely dire atm and she couldn’t get any tickets……Disgusting that you can’t get a ticket from London to Manchester 😡😡 Anyway she is travelling to Sheffield and I’m travelling by train to meet her there. We will have dinner somewhere near the train station before getting the train back to Stocky - which is about an hours ride. The kids are looking on it as an adventure 😂😂 I’ve only ever been into the centre of Sheffield once - years ago so have no idea where I’m heading 😂😂 I’ve been to the shopping mall just outside the town many times but not the actual town.
Yup a muzzle is the way to go - little monkey. But if he doesn’t like his feet being touched he can’t tell her 😏January spends - £587.581 -
RS, I do not envy you the Sheffield traffic. The infrastructure has been broken for years and the council just seem to make matters worse with their ‘improvements’. I commuted to Sheffield centre for years and it could sometimes take me 2 hours to do 16 miles. Absolutely bonkers, something I definitely do not miss!Life gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £7390 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3677/£6000 | Travel savings £1832 | Sinking pots £31071

It should have been a no spends day today but foolishly I have made my packed lunch and left it on the kitchen table

So I have had to buy some lunch on the way into work. £5.75 for a meal deal and an apple. I won't be making that mistake again!
£393 sent to the motorhome HP loan this morning.
Other then that it is going to be a no more spends day. Breakfast was toast, the other half at least has managed to take his packed lunch to work and dinner tonight is goat chops with garlic and herb potatoes and vegetables.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- cleaning the kitchen

That’s good you had the money to cover the unexpected bills, that’s what savings are for. Balances heading in the right direction too. Don’t forget your lunch tomorrow 😆I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

It is definitely a no spends day today. I have remembered my lunch

So that is number 3 for October. That's a terribly low figure for this late in the month.
Breakfast this morning was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is spag bol made with steak mince and pearl barley and served with some wholewheat pasta and garlic bread.
Tonight's jobs are:- walking the dog
- cleaning the bathrooms
- load of washing (hung in the spare bathroom to dry)
- vacuuming the house
Also got a message from a small 5 unit campsite we had wanted to book onto as part of next summers Norfolk trip but they were full for the date we wanted. They have had a cancellation so we have snapped that one up. It is such a cracking location we have been by on the boat so many times. That trip is pretty much there now. All of the sites are booked and paid for just need to book the pub stop meal nearer the time. Looking forward to that trip in particular for next year.1 -
It’s not like you to forget your lunch. Hope you enjoy whatever you buy.
The trip away sounds great next year 👍January spends - £587.581 -
Not a no spends day we have been to pick some weekend supplies up this morning.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is pizza, chips and onion rings. We will have a few beers on the sofa first though and watch a film.
Not much in the way of jobs to do tonight. We got most of them done last night. Just need to remember to plug the van in, turn the fridge on and stock it up with beer. And of course we need to walk the dog as well.
I wonder what today will bring in the soap opera that is UK politics?1 -
We are really looking forward to next summers trip. It is an area we know well from taking our boat there and also hiring boats there so we are looking forward to viewing it from a different perspective.milann said:It’s not like you to forget your lunch. Hope you enjoy whatever you buy.

I'm sure there will be a hire of a day boat somewhere thrown in the mix as well.2
