I have just looked back on what we owed at the beginning of this diary and what we currently owe now and in three months exactly we have paid off £2429 from our outstanding balances.
I didn't realise just how much we were bringing down the balance each month. And that includes for a couple of blips which added money to a couple of the cards in that time. If we carry on at this rate then this time next year the situation will look a whole more rosy and an end to the credit card debt circle will be in sight.4 -
You've done amazingly well over the last few months and it's good that you can see light at the end of the tunnel. Good idea to close the accounts as you pay them off.
Are you planning on keeping at least one credit card at the end of your debt free journey? Personally I think it's worth keeping one even if it's just for big purchases to get Section 75 protection. I actually use one for the rewards spending everything on it and then paying off at the end of the money - but all money spent on it is budgeted for before being spent.

Paying off almost £2500 in 3 months is great. Fantastic to see that second card gone in a weeks time. I would keep the oldest card just for section 75 protection and emergencies.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Yes we plan to keep the one card for emergency use and for big purchases. But it will be put away where we are not tempted to use it very often.

He'll be glad to get back to work for a rest 😀 You might not be having many no spends days but at least you're spending on things that are needed. You might as well make the most of other half being off. Your evening meal sounds lovely, do you make the salmon wellington yourself?I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Yes I will be making the salmon wellington. I am cheating and using shop bought light puff pastry (if it arrives) but I will be making the cheese sauce that goes in it. The other half said last week we have not had it for a while so thought I would make it today.
The other half is one of those sorts who doesn't like to be sat around doing nothing. He would much rather be busy. Like he said last night, when is he ever going to get the chance again to be getting paid for doing work on the house?4 -
I had completely forgotten about salmon Wellington, it has been at least 25 years since I last had it. I am off to find a recipe so I can add that to our meal plans, I too will be using bought puff pastry, it is something we only make once or twice a year.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

It seems to have been none stop deliveries today. It has been manic.
The pebbles in the garden look great. They are a lovely grey colour when dry but come alive with a range of colours when they are wet. The other half has moved 900kg of them today from the driveway into the garden. Don't envy him that job. He has just gone up to have a well earned long soak in the bath after his efforts.
Can't wait for spring to come now so that we can plant up the borders.3 -
The pebbles sound brilliant. It’ll be lovely in Spring when everything starts coming back to life.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4
