Just had our first full months energy bill with the new higher prices. Last month was only a half month due to our billing cycle.

Pleasantly surprised, it was cheaper than expected and well under our monthly payment which I wasn't expecting as they have not put our payment up yet.

If we can manage similar bills for the rest of the summer and into autumn then I don't think we will need to put our monthly payment up as we will have built up a fair amount of credit and then the £200 additional government payment in October should see us through the winter months :)

Unless they put up prices massively in October that is!
  • That's really good RS, a bit of a comfort in these uncertain times :)

We are still going to put some money aside just in case we suddenly start using hug amounts more than expected in the winter.

I don't think we will. We have agreed that we will make a conscious effort this winter to turn the heating down a degree or two and get wrapped up in some fleecy blankets on the sofa. See if we can't keep the bills down a bit and soak up some of the price increases.

Not a no spends day today. We have been to the shop to get some beer for the weekend this morning and I need to go to do the weekly shop at Aldi after work tonight.

Bit of a bonus though. We had £6.50 worth of Tesco vouchers to use and the beer was £11 a case Clubcard price so it didn't cost us as much as we thought it might.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast wrap for breakfast to use up the last of the weekends left overs in the fridge, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is haggis with root veg mash and vegetables.

    Todays jobs are:
    • shopping
    • walking the dog

The £150 council tax rebate has landed in my account this morning. So that has gone into the savings account.
