We love Norfolk as well. We spent a lot of time there with the boat. We always seemed to have bad weather when we were coming home though. That won't be a problem with the van though 😃Sun_Addict said:I love North Norfolk, we used to go before Mr SA’s illness.
It will be nice to go and not have to worry about how we are getting home again.1 -
We are back home now. Van is unloaded, washing machine is on its first of many washes today, van is vacuumed out and the fridge and freezer unloaded.
We are heading out shortly to go and grab some lunch. We have not got round to breakfast yet so we may as well just make it lunch now. Then we need to head to the supermarket and get some provisions for at home.
We need to unpack our bags later and run the vacuum round the house and cut the grass. But that can wait while later.3 -
Just totted up a few figures from the trip.
16 days, 1538.7 miles, average 26.2mpg (considering the roads we travelled it is amazing it managed this much!) , 0 days on hook up, 1 night on a campsite (£23), 284 litres of fuel, 24 litres of gas, £13.90 in parking charges and £18.50 in charges to service the tanks on the motorhome.
There have been so many smiles per mile and memories made along the way. We saw sea eagles on Skye, zombie red deer at Applecross, seals in Staffin Harbour, golden eagles at Tongue but no sign of the Kracken despite the warning sign and very brazen foxes at Tynemouth. The other half also had an unexpected encounter with an angry bee at Gairloch 😀
The van has been faultless and has never grumbled despite the roads and conditions we have pitted it against. It can now have a well earned rest for a few days before we pull it out of the drive to give it a proper clean.

You’ve had an amazing holiday @RelievedSheff and the figures are unreal - what was your total spend out of interest? I assume you ate out a fair amount too?
I would have thought it would be even more miles at an average of just under 100 miles a day it seems a lot more achievable to me, definitely food for thought so thank you for posting. My son would love seeing that wildlife apart from an angry bee haha.
Glad to hear how the van has run throughout the journey too.3 -
First day back at work today.
Not quite a no spends day I had to pick a couple of bits up from the shop this morning on the way to work.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores. Crumpets for breakfast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is chicken enchilladas with left over chicken from last nights roast dinner.
Todays jobs are:- load of washing
- more van cleaning
- walking the dog

We didn't eat out too much in the end. I have not totted up the food and drink spend but I doubt it is any more than £500 for the two weeks.alt80 said:You’ve had an amazing holiday @RelievedSheff and the figures are unreal - what was your total spend out of interest? The Kelpies are amazing especially at night when they are lit up. We will definitely go again when we are up that way.clearancer said:Thanks for sharing your pics. DH asked where I fancy going next weekend, I showed him the kelpies!2 -
Just totted up the food and drink spend which includes toiletries and other essentials as well as eating out and it came to £435.99 for the 16 days. So it really wasn't an expensive holiday at all.RelievedSheff said:

With regards the mileage per day we took it steady compared to a lot of people. Some do it in a week so the miles per day is more than double what we were doing. But it is probably easier in a smaller vehicle. We found that about 100 miles per day was enough with the motorhome on the narrower roads. On the A roads and motorways doing more miles wasn't a problem though.1
