alt80 said:It’s a long way mate 100 you’ll be ready for a beer by the time you get there. Think you’re hopeful about 5 hours though more like 6.5/7 with lunch and coffee a couple of times unless one of you is jumping in the back of the van to put the kettle on. 😆Lot of idiots about on the roads today almost had a !!!!!! in a lorry take the side of EQC out and Mrs has had a learner nearly roll into the back of her in the Range get through today with the cars unscathed we’ll be doing ok fml.
It doesn't really matter how long it takes us to get there. MIL is only a few miles down the road anyway, we have said we will give her a call when we are a few miles away so she can set off and meet us.
We are grabbing a McDonalds breakfast on Saturday morning, seems to be a habit we are getting into when we set off on holiday. We have stocked the fridge up with cold drinks we can grab when we make a quick pit stop and I will stick us some snacks in the fridge as well.
Definitely not making coffee on the go2 -
Yeah been up your way today or not that far away Derbyshire’s answer to leaning tower of Pisa. Only the best this week lol fml.Never mind the roads, I’ve got a muppet in my sitting room - Told my Mrs about the lorry and she asks me if it’s a fire risk to crash an electric car fml because petrol isn’t flammable at all. 🙄
I don’t mind those trips when not got to be somewhere for a particular time. Good your MIL is chill about it.Ha the new Maccys van hol breakfast tradition lol.1 -
Last day at work today and it will be a no spends day.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is pizza and a couple of beers on the sofa with a film before having an early night.
We have a few last bits to pack up on the van tonight and a last load of washing to do which needs loading on the van.
Unfortunately the other half has come down with a cold last night. He has done a Covid test and that is negative. Hopefully it will be short lived.0 -
Hope your last day at work is not too mad and not too much to do to van and your other half ok.One of my staff had last day for two weeks yesterday - going to Croatia. Hotel is in a stunning coastal setting, all sorts planned. Been waiting to do the trip for a while, I’m made up for him that he’s finally going and I’m made for you that you’re having your first proper trip in the van.3

Had a bit of a flap this morning. The other half went to the pharmacy to pick up his medication he had ordered on Monday and the order hadn't gone through. He has spent an hour in the telephone queue waiting to get through to the doctors to find out what is going on. They have had a technical glitch apparently and the orders placed early in the week have been wiped from the system. They were very good and have put the order through straight away so it should be with him now.
Nice surprise at work. The boss has bought us all pizza for lunch from the gourmet pizza place down the road. The conference room was stuffed full with very nice pizzas. Does mean I am having pizza for lunch and dinner today though!
Next panic will be can we actually buy some fuel for the van tomorrow4 -
There’s always something isn’t there, just when things are running smoothly. What a nice gesture from work, that’s what I miss about working for the private sector, you get nothing like that in the public sector unless a senior leader is feeling flush and treats everyone out of their own pocket (it has been known 😆)I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1
