The balances should start to come down relatively quickly now. With the majority of the card debt on 0% and the HP loans ticking along by my reckoning we should be clearing just over £1k per month.alt80 said:@RelievedSheff under £37.5k now well done.Haha re van suppose it’s actually a lot bigger than my car.
It is a thankless task washing the van. Especially when we realised we will be doing it all over again in a few weeks to get rid of all of the sand and salt from it

Really pleased for you mate, 100% you’ll hit your target date.I’d love to spend a week touring Scotland but think you probably need 10 days / 2 weeks really. Have you been before?
Fml does sound like a downside to van ownership not gonna lie I leave the Range Rover to my Mrs 9/10 ha that’s enough of a pain.1 -
The other halfs mum and her husband live up in Scotland so we have seen some of it before when they have taken us out and about.alt80 said:Really pleased for you mate, 100% you’ll hit your target date.I’d love to spend a week touring Scotland but think you probably need 10 days / 2 weeks really. We have 16 nights out and that still isn't enough. We won't get to see everything that we would like to. But we can go back at another point and fill in some of the gaps. It will be very much a whistle stop tour this time with a fair amount of driving every day. Only one ferry ride on this trip though. Next time we go we want to do some island hopping.
We are prepared to put up with washing it in return for some of the nice places we will get to visit in it. Not going to lie though, I'm really not looking forward to polishing it in the spring. That is going to be a big job!
If nothing major changes then I don't see any reason why we shouldn't hit our target of being debt free by May 2026.2 -

@RelievedSheff that’s a long time. I would also love to see the Scottish islands don’t think I will though as you say need to be there for a fair while ideally.
Lol re the van maintenance as you say it’s the penance for all your trips away - much else planned going into winter or just spend some time home. Do you miss home/ work at all?1 -
We have a few winter weekends away in the planning and we are considering have a few days away at New Years with how the days land and what time we have off work.alt80 said:@RelievedSheff that’s a long time. When we are out and about we make full use of every day going out and exploring new places. We don't have time to miss home and we certainly don't miss work. We will both leave work on Friday evening and won't think about it again until the Monday that we return to work. Holidays are our time, not work time.1 -
It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is BBQ pork chops with chips and vegetables.
Today's jobs include:- vacuuming the house (didn't get done last night)
- cleaning the kitchen
- walking the dog.

Looks like the neighbour's son is off somewhere soon - his giant American style motorhome has been on her drive for the week. It barely fits on. I think they store it somewhere else most of the time. Her house is a bungalow which makes it look even bigger. Certainly wouldn't like to clean that monster.
Have you seen this TV show trailered ? Million Pound Motorhomes on C5. Might be good for a giggle (or possibly right up @alt80 street
)
Enjoy your holiday - the work countdown is always good when it gets to single figures.3 -
We have had an email from our energy supplier to say that they are putting up our energy costs quite substantially. To be fair we were paying a very cheap rate of 2.1p per kWh for gas and 13.6p per kWh for electric and we were on a variable rate plan. So it hasn't really come as any great surprise. Our new rates will be 4.2p per kWh for gas and 20p per kWh for electric so it will make quite a considerable difference to the bills.
More shocking was when I ran a comparison quote through the big sites and was getting quoted as high as 8p per kWh for gas and 32p per kWh for electric!
I think the days of low energy bills have been and gone. Will make the most of next months £60 direct debit, it will be the last one of those for a long time, if not forever
