We had a cracking couple of days there. The car park by the wharf is the cheaper of the three.alt80 said:@RelievedSheff Someone I know lives close to that part of the world, it is nice up that way; you've given me an idea for a day out with my son walk him and my dog along that canal and coffee.
We didn't get that far down the canal, only about 1.5 miles each way but it is very interesting some of the history surrounding it. We will definitely leave more time at our next visit to explore the canal properly.3 -
It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, the other half had taken his packed lunch to work, I am having a toasted sandwich for my lunch and dinner tonight is roast pork and all the trimmings which we should have had yesterday. We had a surprise visit from some old friends yesterday afternoon/evening so I never got round to cooking th e pork and we ended up having a take out curry instead.
Today's jobs include:- working from home
- vacuuming the house
- vacuuming the van
- walking the dog

Thanks I’ve noted that down re parking. Did it just cost you the usual parking fee for you to park your van?
Tbh I’ve never really looked into the history of the place or really appreciated it when I’ve been in that part of the world. Will have to do a bit of reading and take my son. Teach him something then go on to Matlock Bath for mediocre fish and chips 😆1 -
At the wharf car park the parking was the same for the van as it is for a car. In the other two car parks it should have been more for the van.alt80 said:Thanks I’ve noted that down re parking. Did it just cost you the usual parking fee for you to park your van?

It was £4.80 for 24 hours. Then it was £1.60 for 1-2 hours or £3.00 for 2-4 hours.
Well worth the visit and loads of history to the place. Worth the short walk into the village as well. That is very pretty.
Parking in Matlock Bath is a nightmare but it is £1.20 return from Cromford to Matlock Bath on the train. Not worth moving the car for that price

When you walk to Cromford village do you walk up to the millpond? That's a hidden gem in the village. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.1

That’s not too bad and £1.20 train ride haha fml def do that. Traffic in Matlock Bath is a complete joke, know that. My Mrs will have to agree to come which I think she will; my £20 cash budget probably won’t stretch to parking, train ride, coffee, fish and chips. Ha fml this is how !!!!!! ridiculous my life has got lol.2

We were a bit early in the village to try the pubs out though. Will definitely do that next time we are there instead of going into Matlock Bath.2 -

Does the car park have RingGo? Ha this will probably give you a laugh, she gives me £20 a day, goes through my Xero expenses every !!!!!! evening and counts every !!!!!! penny I have left each night - couldn’t buy anything if I wanted to. She fills all the cars with petrol so I don’t have cards. Not a !!!!!! chance she’ll give me more money to be used out of her sight. Not allowed any money at the weekend either lol.2
