May isn't that far away although you might want to wait a month or so more until your CCJ drops off in July. You might want a few months between applying for the personal loan and a new credit card though. I would be tempted to use the boat money to clear all the interest charging debt and go for a cheaper van but your choice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. We will just have a few months of paying interest on Card 5. It isn't the end of the world.1 -
We have just got back in from a nice long walk with the dog. It really is very mild out today.
We did briefly sit out on the patio when we got back but it has started raining so we have retreated to the kitchen.

Had a major wobble this evening and almost rang to cancel the boat sale!
Think it is hitting home to both of us now. We are selling our baby.
Not sure I can go and say goodbye next weekend 😥3 -
The camper van would open up a whole new world to you. I can understand why you feel this way though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

@RelievedSheff 100% hear you re boat. Maybe take a bit of time to list your pros and cons of boat v p1key wagon? Whilst you can still back out if you think that is the right thing to do rather than regret it later. Yeah you’ve technically exchanged I suppose by taking the deposit iyswim but no formal contract as I assume it’s like selling a used car so either party can back out and you could give deposit back? You seem to get a lot of enjoyment from the boat and I was shocked when you said you were selling it tbh. Honestly mate no chance I’ve be selling a boat for a van but your life/ your choice 100.
Re cards that’s not great re the 0%. I’m with @enthusiasticsaver tbh re cards/ van funds. I don’t fully understand why you want to keep them entirely separate it’s all just money same pot really iyswim but you seem very determined to do it this way keep them entirely separate and if you know it’s right for you then it’s right for you mate 100%.2 -
@alt80 either party can back out at any time until the paperwork is signed. A bit like a car I suppose rather than a house.
The boat has been such an important part of our lives for the last 13 years that it is a wrench to see it sold. Its like selling a body part.
Realistically it has to go. For the little that we used it last year the costs are astronomical and it just doesn't make sense to keep it anymore. If we were still using it every weekend and holidays then it would be a different story. But we had become bored of it.
It will be a difficult week for us this coming week. Not a lot we can do about that other than accept it an knuckle down and get on with it!4 -
It will be a no spends day today.
Breakfast and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast is going to be a bbq breakfast and dinner tonight is roast chicken with all the trimmings.
We are going to take the dog out for a long walk along the canal today, then when we get back will probably get the board games out for a couple of hours.2
