  • Had to type it in manually. Google Pay then asked me to ring, which told me to do it through the app... Stuck in a circle. Not that I use Google Pay tbh.

I received my card today, with no account number on it! RBS seem to be very cloak and dagger about banking, I’ve never experienced such a painfully drawn out application process before. Will the account number arrive tomorrow, The card PIN the day after? The online app four digit pin the day after that? Then the card reader? Probably have to ask for that separately too.

Indeed. The only clue was the last 4 digits of the account number on the sheet of paper the card was attached to. Mine said something like "here's your new debit card for account ending xxxx"

I now have several RBS and NatWest accounts and it's going to be a nightmare keeping track of which identical card belongs to which account. I've ended up having to stick post it notes on each one with part of the account numbers!
Go into the app and in each account, "Manage my card". It shows you the last 4 digits of the card and your account number. It's a right old pain that they don't print the account number on their cards (same with Natwest and Ulster)

    Thanks.

I'll try that when they do finally let me register for the app. Like others have commented I have to wait a few days, because apparently I changed my mobile number to exactly the same mobile number  :/

I have had the same problems that you have all mentioned but the one that struck me was the email to say that there was a message in my mail box but the account was restricted so I couldn't access my mail box.
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!

I know. I was "a victim" myself of confirming the phone number they already had for me, and that they asked me to reconfirm. Whoever programmed the confirmation of an existing phone number as a change of phone number should be shot.

But we can outlive daft programmers, can't we  B)
  • Well mine has gone seamlessly atm.  Everything set up and the switch arranged for next week.  Have I just jinxed it? :)

  • I’ve got the card, the PIN arrived today. I can’t do anything with my account as it’s got no money in it. I can’t put any money in it because after eight days I still don’t know my account number. Only way I can fund my account is through the switch account next week.

How does one obtain ones account number. I can’t login.

Can't you log in with the card number?
  • Thanks, that worked using my customer number after it didn’t recognise my long card number that I scanned in. Sure it asked me for my account number yesterday on screen as part of the process but not this time. Account number obtained! New mobile number recorded same as the old number. Card reader ordered by logging in apparently. Get there in the end!

Now weirdly I could have sworn this account was opened/stated as paperless... go into statement settings and it's set to post by default!

Should also add, that the letter in the mailbox (dated 5 days before the mailbox date), just says your account is open and includes the account number.
