Not too much happening here. Trying to make the most of all the time we have with the kids and DH is trying to support his friend however he can. Today we went to see a local 10K race and entered DS in the kids one. He found it difficult going at first, but then found his stride and pushed through. We now have to very tired kids as DD tried to walk all the way back!DD is really struggling with teething and so I've had about 3 hours sleep. I really hope it gets better soon, although she has her jabs tomorrow morning, so could be at least a lost day there as they can make you feel quite rubbish. Not looking forward to another week at work, but trying to take each day as it comes and will start trying to arrange the summer holiday stuff in terms of my time off at least. Not much else planned.. most things around the house etc are a bit on hold. Just making the most of the kids. Lunch today was crumpets, mushrooms, beans and scrambled egg (lots of food after the exercise this morning). Dinner will be gnocchi in a tomato sauce with garlic bread. Pudding is chocolate brownies that I made on Friday, or raspberry jelly for DD as she doesn't like chocolate (strange child...!). Will be doing chores and checking finances etc during the week when the kids aren't here.2025 decluttering: 3,973🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Sorry to hear you've had some bad news. It really makes you think about what's important, doesn't it? It sounds like you're having lovely family time though. I think prioritising sorting out your leave next week is a good idea - it will put your mind at ease, give you something to look forward and be a (potentially) difficult issue out of the way and settled (hopefully).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Wow. So finally heard from a friend yesterday and the delay was because it was all bad news. All I hear is bad news at the moment and I’m desperate for a piece of good news.
Can’t think about money right now (although it’s not like I’ve changed my habits so I’m not spending more than usual) and had so little sleep due to DD’s teething I can’t think straight at the moment. Just taking one day at a time.2025 decluttering: 3,973🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

So sorry to hear that Jess.
Taking one day at a time is the way to go. Keep plodding, as Beanie would say. That situation may not change, but other things will and you will get through it.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

What a bit of a nightmare week. I've taken DD into nursery three times this week and she's been sent home twice. Third time lucky? She had a temperature after her jabs on day 1 which I expected may happen, but then the next day her leg suddenly swelled up to twice the size! She had some sort of a reaction to one of the jabs and I had to take her to an emergency doctor's appointment. Seems to be very slowly going back down and she seems fine, so hopefully it's all good now! This is when working with kids just doesn't work at all. I still haven't worked out how to get work into my day and still get other things done. It just seems to hard. I am going to go back to my to do list and add work things in there as well so I mix the two and just get things off the list in the day.Getting fed up with the lack of sleep as well. Every time I get slightly more sleep I feel so much better, but I never get two good days in a row and my eyes often hurt through lack of sleep. It is absolutely the cause of my mild depression and I feel so helpless that I can't do anything about it but hope DD starts eating fewer times in the night. Sick of the up and downs each day that comes with it and it feels a bit like my life is pending as it means I just can't think straight.Anyway, am trying to regain some sort of control now I hope DD is better again. Got up earlier than usual so I could walk DS to school and vote on the way back as I literally have to walk past the voting station. An older lady amused me by striding up to the polling station and remarking to the conservative candidate "it's going to be a ritual humiliation for you today", immediately turning to the Lib Dem candidate and saying "you've got my vote" and then striding off again. It was very unexpected. I love when older people have strong views on stuff and don't care who knows about it! I think that's going to be me in a few yearsOne load of washing is already done and I've finished one piece of work. I was going to sort out my tax stuff as I know they owe me a bit of money, but I have a work IT failure to get to my payslips etc so had to log an IT issue instead. If I'm still awake this evening I will try and finalise the end of my April spreadsheet so I can confirm the status of my savings towards my yearly TV licence and go onto the next savings aim. Better get back to my to do list and see how much I can get done today.2025 decluttering: 3,973🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Your story about the older lady at the polling station made me smile - I think it'll be me too in a few years!
Try and be kind to yourself Jess, you're piling on the pressure in so many ways. Things will get better, DD will sleep more and you will get through this.
I know I'm not allowed to say this as a non-parent, and I know you feel strongly about it, but is it worth weaning DD onto a bottle just so that you can get more sleep? Feel free to ignore me, but you've got to be healthy to be there for her and it seems that the lack of sleep is causing you so many problems.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
