Maybe @bigred05 could indulge the forum and add a poll to his initial post asking is £99 admin fee dishonest?  I know I'd vote for it being so.  Of course that won't affect anyone who thinks its not dishonest, in the same way some people can't see that landlords who discriminate against disabled people are not decent or that future premium bonds winning odds are not affected by past winnings.

It’s the Ryanair approach of unbundled prices then nickel and diming the customer.
Very dodgy. If something is advertised for X you should be able to pay X and walk away with your item. No payment or admin fees. There was actually a case against Ryanair over them advertising airfares without taxes or booking fees. As a result they have to advertise the lowest price including all compulsory fees and charges.

for a dealer, a long established dealer that has poss sold hundreds of thousands of cars to be labelled  "dishonest" for the clearly advertised, advised fee of 99 pounds is wrong at every level.

So are you honestly saying that a dealer who states that an admin fee is compulsory but will remove that fee if it looks like the customer is going to walk away isn't acting dishonestly by lying about the "compulsory" fee?
If it was compulsory, they wouldn't have the option to remove it when it suits them.
As you like dictionary definitions so much:
    compulsory
    adjective.
If something is compulsory, you must do it or accept it, because it is the law or because someone in a position of authority says you must.

Didn't someone from EH have an account on here and said that the fee is optional?

If the car is a good price but the fee puts it over then say here is the screen price money. That is what I am willing
to pay right now or I am walking away.

You don't have to buy from them, you get the choice to pay it or not. Spotted a car for sale at what seemed like a very good
price. Looked it over and there were minor parking marks on the corners but still seemed a good price. The buyer didnt want
to haggle the £99 though.  They said £99 on an £8k+ car is not worth the effort and paid it.  They were happy with
the car but would not take it to them for servicing etc.

    Exactly, great post, thanks
Cleary their admin fee is not, never "dishonest" and the poster that said and the other usernames that tried to defend that need to witdraw their comments.
As I have said and you, you don't have to buy the car if you are not happy with the OTR price. Bottom line is OTR price, forget the other bits.  We almost always negoatiate in a last minute tank of fuel but a couple of years ago on the bigger cars we'd settle for half - no pint in throwing your money away if you can get it, get it.

    ATB
The fact that they can remove it just goes to further show they do not need to charge it in the first place. Its crafty , sneaky, callous, dodgy, and let's face it, pretty dishonest and the variability of the charge is further evidence that its on shaky ground to say the least.

So much in modern life seems to be like this. "We'll add an admin fee on. That will increase our profits". "What if people refuse?" "Well they don't pay". If only 20% of people pay they will make more profit than if they didn't have an admin fee.

The people that refuse to pay are happy that they have saved £99. The people who pay it are obviously not bothered enough to argue so they lose.

The Fee at Evans Halshaw is not Compulsory, the red sticker in the bottom corner of the windscreen which details the "Admin Fee" clearly says it's optional (though salesmen may tell customers differently).
The ASA were satisfied that it's an optional fee and thus doesn't have to be included in the advertised price.

CD Bramall is one of the companies owned by Pendragon, though it's not used as a trading name it's just one of a number of companies Pendragon own that trade as Evans Halshaw

I stand by my "dishonest" statement ... I have no intention of withdrawing it.

I see her ladyship has yet again deleted her post and then reposted it so that my post here is out of sequence. 🙄 I guess she can't work out how to edit a post. ;)
Do you know how many usernames sweetsand has or has had.

i think she knows full well how to edit but enjoys giving everyone the run around

I wondered whether "Tony" had had gender reassignment but the posting style is not quite the same.
