SDP is also payable when claiming certain means tested benefits such as Income Related ESA, as previously advised in this thread. It's paid because you're living alone, no claims Carers allowance for looking after you and you're claiming PIP daily living.SDP doesn't pay for your housing benefit. It's part of the claim.
SDP is not part of PIP and isn't paid with it. SDP is part of housing benefit but it's not actually paid, it's just aprt of the claim. SDP is a benefit on it own that's paid as part of another benefit, with the criteria mentioned above in a previous comment. When you claim the SDP as part of your ESA then you should ring and ask to fill out the IS10 form for SDP, it's a very quick claim that usually takes about a week to put into payment. It's then paid in with your ESA payments, fortnighytly.0 -
Because it's also payable when claiming Income Related ESA and it's not automatically paid.

You don't get housing benefit because you're claiming PIP, you get it because of your low income.Your ESA amount per week will be £66, paid fortnightly as previously advised but you'll need to claim for the SDP because this amount is with the SDP.0 -
i no im sounding like a broken rcord now but i cant understand why i have to claim for SDP when im already getting it in some form? is SDP something you have to claim for each different bennifit you apply for so i will have to claim SDP for esa even though i already get it for help in my name ?poppy12345 said:scodgey said:

Housing benefit and ESA are 2 completely different benefits. Forget about your housing benefit please because you're already claiming that. Once the ESA has been awarded then ring DWP to claim the SDP for the ESA as previously advised. If you don't claim the SDP then you'll be losing money from your ESA and you won't receive any payments because of your IIB and pension.
