Thanks for the new thread @elsiepac. I’m going to try for $300 again for September. It’s my birthday month with a milestone birthday but let’s see what it looks like. I’m thinking maybe a small socially distanced picnic may be in order, not a big party.6

Thanks for the new month's Grocery Challenge, @elsiepac.

Thank you, elsiepac! I'm going to sigh and ask you to put me down for £500, please; it's a 5 weekend month for us, from 28/08 to 30/09, and I've been failing miserably to stick to my budget for several months now. Admittedly there have been a lot of unanticipated expenses, plus many things have undoubtedly gone up in price, but I'm sure I should be able to Do Better & will hope to put it back down next month!
I'm feeding 4 adults (2 omnivores, 2 pescatarians) during the week, and 6-8 at weekends, safely socially-distanced outside, under my gazebo if necessary. Plus 3 cats, 2 cockatiels and currently 15 chickens, but 6 of those are only 4 days old at the moment. They're not eating much yet, but - they will, and soon, as they grow like weeds! Mid-month we have DS2's wedding; DS1 & his partner & dog will be staying with us, as will DS3, sleeping in my van if necessary to keep it legal & safe. After the wedding, the two DDs & I & possibly DS3 are aiming to slip away for a few days camping further west; any food we don't take with us will come out of the "Entertainments" budget, but as I've earned the grand total of £74.90 so far this year, that won't be much!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)7 -

Thank you elsiepac for doing this thread. As I've said before it helps keep us accountable.
We are still going through the freezer and cupboard food though we are needing to get some frozen vegetables as run out or running out. With that in mind the budget will go up for September compared to August slightly. Our September budget is £180.
The month goes 1st to the 30th.
This is for two adults, my OH and I, and a chinchilla. Includes all food and drink (except alcohol), cleaning products, toiletries etc and all chinchilla items (food, hay, sand, treats etc).£0/£180.£180 left.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy5 -
Thanks for running the thread @elsiepac could you put me down for £90 again please?
This is for the calendar month 1-30 September. Having failed in spectacular fashion in August I'm going to have another go and see if I can do it.
This is for me and increasingly picky cat. Includes all toiletries, cleaning materials, bulk buys, cat food and litter.8 -
Budgets updated to here
@joedenise have a lovely holiday and we'll see you in October! (Wait, WHAT?! lol)
@JingsMyBucket a picnic sounds like a really lovely way to celebrate!
@thriftwizard it feels like the wedding has come around really fast! How is the cake making going?
@Doom_and_Gloom did you used to have 2 chins? I had 2 rescues but the older one, the mum died earlier this year at a rough age of about 20. Her daughter is still going and is about 17.
@boultdj, @K9sandFelines and @MazzieD welcome back for another month!

Hi everyone and @elsiepac
What a wonderful thread I have just come across. I would love to join, this being my first challenge since joining the forum!
I live part time alone and part time with Mr Compet who eats enough for 4! At present I can't quote put my finger on a total for food shops although we don't spend a huge amount and I always try to get bargains on meat as we eat a lot of protein to aid our weight training!
I am going to give myself a target of £200 for September and see how we go! Being accountable on here will also help me to ensure I keep track of what I spend!
Looking forward to keeping up with everyone!
