Mine is a funny one. 66 and 8 months. Have worked out if I keep saving really hard and don’t lose my job I might manage 64. You never know, he might get lonely doing his own thing and help me out. 😂4

Just realised it’s been a while since I posted. It’s been massively busy at work which has been a bit stressful. I’m not keen on the job at all, but in current times I have to consider myself lucky to have it.
It’s been all go on the home front too. Open University has started again so that will keep me occupied till next June. My new glasses were not working out and my vision was terrible so went back to SS and they are going to change them. Then 10 days ago, I started to get a grinding noise in the car when braking downhill. Cue new brakes and discs which set me back £170. At least I had the money in my miscellaneous spends so worked out ok. The car is booked in for end of month for service and MOT so hopefully with new shiny brakes it will pass.
We have a new, large HB opened in our town and I’ve spotted some wallpaper that’s just as nice and cheaper than the one online I’d earmarked for the lounge so pleased with that.
Then finally, I’ve booked a mini skip in advance of the lounge being done. Think I’m looking forward to it now. It will look very different.

Hello MoneyWorry
Thank you for posting. It has given me a real wake-up call as I barely have any savings at all, and I am a similar age to you, plus I have no idea what kind of company pension(s) I may have in terms of value or retirement date.
I appreciate that what has happened to you gives you, understandably, high anxiety and you have done something about it! First of all, well done! You have 'got your act together' and because of that, you are in a good position, better than you think you are. It has made me wake up more on my own situation, and how easy it is to put your head in the sand, pretend things are ok when they are not.
MovingForward (Babs) has given me a lot of good advice on here, as have others, so I am sure you will thrive here, good luck!

Hope your car passes it’s MOT without any further cost. I had problems with SS glasses and had to have a retest & the prescription was totally wrong so they didn’t charge me & changed the lenses for free. @MoneyWorry I'm pleased to see you started your diary. Don't forget to update it occasionally when you pop on to MSE, it helps keep your focus and bounce ideas off people.
Your pensions look ok, plus when reaching SPA there's the state pension to add into your budget; don't forget to have a look at how that's holding up and whether any more NI is required.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
I’m sorry I haven’t posted for a bit. I think like a lot of people the current situation is getting to me a bit. I’m in an area which has not long come under local restrictions. Unfortunately, due to this, I can’t see my best friend, family or my OH. The first time round I coped ok, but now there seems to be no resolution to this at all. I know it’s not just me, but what a mess for everyone. 😢3

Can you call them, do video calls to keep in touch and 'see' them without being able to physically see them. I know it's not the same with your OH; I'm assuming he isn't too local so a distant park walk is out?
Things will get better, in time. For now, do your best to keep in contact with people. Do chat here then you know you're not alone and have support. Take it one day at a time and try to form a routine.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
In better news though finances are going ok. The decorator finished on Friday, it all looks amazing and by the time all the bits and pieces are paid, there will be some left in the house fund. So this is position..
Teeth & Glasses £169
House Maint £1650 estimate will have maybe £400 left at end
Clothes £578
Redundancy £1980
Cat Health £450
Car replacement £5885
Gap between Pension & SPA £10990
Long term and emergency £6070
Beauty £594
Holiday £2395
Entertaining £605
So more than happy with finances. I was going to change car end of this year, but my current one passed MOT with just needing a tyre, so tempted to carry on a bit longer. I can only drive to work at moment anyway. 😂3 -
Keep the car going, allows you more time to save for a replacement. Who knows, the next MOT may justify another year too.
