Getting a locking wheel nut key
Comments

Passive aggressive much and also not very accurate or consistent with their advice
Telling OPs what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear and then causing conflicts with other posters
Gotta love the ignore button (although it doesnt hide quotes)0 -
be careful what you post in response to them, posts by bradders and Mrsn on this thread illustrate

No mocking was intended, and my apologies for any insult that was inferred.
My advice to you is if you can't help, don't post something that mocks the OP.
You have just apologised but did not do it at the start when I picked that up but you are still in denial of what you said and that is the stance you need to change.
Thank youOfficial MR B fan club,dont go............................1 -
AdrianC said:It's a simple statement of fact. The chances of the wheels being nicked are extremely low, let's be honest. They're almost certainly a relatively common - therefore cheap - tyre size.
No mocking was intended, and my apologies for any insult that was inferred.Yes it is a fact. It just bamboozled me as to why when i didn't say i wanted to keep lockers on or replace lockers with lockers etc that you/anyone would assume that's what i wanted to do when i said i wanted to get the things off.And at the same time who are we to say what's desirable. I'm not a thief so i don't know what a thief is looking for and for what reason they're looking for it. To imply that only the most expensive cars and alloys are targeted for theft would be wildly inaccurate. NOTE: I specifically used the word "only" there and not "usually".Something like the MK3 Mondeo ST is in a cheap budget range these days - that's why i now have one. A few years ago i wouldn't have as i personally don't pay big money on cars for various reasons. I never will do, not unless i win some serious money. Each to their own. I bet my £1.4k Astra has cost me a combined total less than many other people and their new cars in the 12 years that i've owned it. I'm not stupid though - i know that it could've equally gone the other way. It's a chance you take with 2nd hand.So back on to theft - as it's becoming more budget now which is likely where the 'rough lot' (yes i'm stereotyping) will be also shopping, if they have cracked an alloy for example then maybe they wont want a £2k set of alloys, they'll just want to target a 14 year old car like theirs that doesn't have lockers on. Who knows?Still, i'll take my chances and i wont be putting any on.No offence taken either. Despite the opening line, you actually went on to help which is fine. I'll bounce out of this thread now and watch it somehow grow to 10 pages. lol.0 -
Problem solved.I was considering biting the bullet with the key. I wasn't sure what sort of damage you could do if you went wrong with a smaller socket so I was going to decide by the end of the day as to whether i went the new key at cost route.I drove through to get images of the locking nut and while there I was checking on a potential leak in to the car.As i was rummaging around & feeling the carpet, when my hand went under the drivers seat that's when i found it - the keyAll's well that ends well.5

No one thought about looking around the car, we have all learnt something, so thanks again

To imply that only the most expensive cars and alloys are targeted for theft would be wildly inaccurate.Adrian Cs comment was just rationalising getting rid of them. It was another poster who was confused.I've got locking nuts on my 20+ year old car and questioned who would steal my tatty old alloys and have considered removing them, I've even got the original nuts, but then an immediate neighbour had a tired steel rim stolen from an aged xsara one night so left them on. If your rims are clean and tidy I wouldn't dismiss keeping the locking nuts. Mine have never caused problems but I also have the reassurance of two keys for them and I never use kwik fit type tyre centres.0
