Great link. I will keep that safe becuse someone we knew bought a used car nd the locking nut key only fitted three wheelsshaun_from_Africa said:Do you have a car breakers near to where you live?
This must be something that they come across on a very regular basis and they may well have a good selection of keys and if you pop in with a clear photo of the nut, they may be able to lend you the correct key (possibly for a small donation into their beer fund).
How about somewhere like this:
https://www.lockingwheelnutkeys.co.uk/single-post/2016/05/17/Ford-Mondeo-Replacement-Locking-Wheel-Nut
£45 and they state that the code isn't needed, just a clear photo of the nut.

Yes, even I'm getting confused now and all over an easily solvable issue of taking off locking wheel nutsGeorge_Michael said:

There is no other point to locking wheel bolts, other than preventing theft. It is quite literally their only job.sweetsand said:

Celary the poster is not saying that, it's common sense to have the key to any locking nuts as when you get a puncture, one will be required.AdrianC said:It's a 14yo Mondeo. Is somebody REALLY going to be nicking your wheels and tyres?
If the answer is no (and, let's be honest, it is), then just get hold of four non-locking bolts, and pay a tyre place a small amount to remove the lockers. A tenner in the tea fund for five minutes work for them, end of problem for you. Every tyre place has locking-bolt removal tools, and the wheel won't be damaged.
I'm asking if there's any point in having lockers on there, vs just plain bolts. Then you don't need a key in the future.

I therefore stand by my statment and add to ensure you understand what I said previously, it's nothing to do with "nicking" the wheels/tyres..
What was the point of your first sentence other than you meant what you posted.
If there is no realistic possibility of theft, there is no point in having locking fasteners. Hence my suggestion to bin them and replace with plain bolts, thus removing the need for a key.

What is a "hub spindle"? (I assume you meant "spindle" by "spindel"/"spinnle"?)
No they don't. Thy can also damage the thread on the spindel and that will be massive problem. Try a main dealer, if you are lucky, may cost you nothing if they have a key, or a few quid might seem expensive but cheaper than having your hub spinnle snapped/etc.AdrianC said:Don't bother getting "the right key", if you're binning them. Just get them removed by a tyre place - they have the removal sockets.
Assuming you're referring to wheel studs (do Mondeos even use a stud with a nut? Bolt into hub tends to be much more common), how will removing a locking nut damage the thread on the stud?0 -
LOL, the other poster was too busy I guess of wanting to praise me as usual she even got that easy bit wrong.George_Michael said:

You clearly implied that the only concern the OP should have was someone stealing their wheels and you tried to undermine the OP by saying who would want to steal wheels/tyres from a car like theirs. It may be nothing to you judging by your comments but the OP is entitled to seek help and as I have stated a couple of times in response to your posts - a locking nut key is required if a wheel needs to be removed for repair etc. I've said everything I've needed to say to you.AdrianC said:

Dear OP, the link the other poster posted and what I said re main dealer and you don't want your thread on the bolt the lock goes onto broken/etc and that will cost a lot of money
