Our sellers left all the things we were expecting - plus mentioned they had bought some new solid wood doors for upstairs and just never got round to fitting them. Great! Go to fit them and they're the wrong size for literally every doorframe in the house, both width and depth. Can't complain too much, as they were free. I guess they just didn't want the hassle of sticking them on gumtree.

(I shall have a slight moan about the fact that some of the kitchen cupboard handles had come off and were stuck back on with blu tack. That was a fun surprise...)

Was a rental property but the previous tenants left the full set of Terry Prachett Discworld novels that had been published up to that date.  I read them and got totally hooked and had to buy all the subsequent ones released.

When I offer I make it clear that the offer includes carpets, cabinets, particular light fittings etc so it’s clear from day 1. I do remember moving house with parents and the vendors they took loo rolls and all the light bulbs!!

Have recently filled in our fixtures and fittings. We are leaving the made to measure conservatory blinds, all the curtains and a fridge and two freezers. Haven't asked the buyer for any money, the fridge was free to us and the freezers were from eBay. The curtains wouldn't fit in the house we are hoping to buy as they are tracks and new one is poles. We are selling to a BTL investor so figured they might get some use out of the white goods. I am removing shelves from the front room, but our huge library on our stairs is purpose built so that is staying (minus the books!)

We have picked up various random bits from rented houses and the two places we have bought previously. A tabletop ironing board, a ladder, a kitchen bin, and in the loft of our current house we ground a box of dart trophies from the 80's 🤷 this house had been empty for over a year when we bought it so had nothing in it, including a working boiler!

Where do I start, we were given a list. Huge dining table too big for room, cabinets, blinds curtains, wardrobes, garden furniture l, pictures on wall
As ftb we didn't know what to do. Agreed to have curtains  blinds, and wardrobes and a TV on wall. On getting the keys most of the stuff we had said no to had been left as no room on their van and left it to us out of kindness, it was a faff as we never wanted it not our taste ans had to ask them back to remove it several times. Also where they had taken furniture we'd noticed they'd painted around it.
Oh and for the stuff we wanted we paid quite a bit for too really
  • When you sell you are meant to leave the place empty - totally empty - apart from anything you have stated via solicitors that you are including such as carpets, curtains etc. If you leave other stuff or a load of junk in the cupboards or garage for example your buyer can charge for its removal. I sold via auction and made sure the place was clear of everything as I didn't want any comeback.
When I bought my flat I agreed to pay for the washing machine which promptly broke down the moment I tried to use it. I should've taken that up via the solicitors but just bit the bullet and got a new one. The vendor had left a few other items which were useful to me at that time (some bedroom furniture and curtains).

Interesting because i've just spent £900 on light fittings and blinds to sell the place so it looked pretty.   Do you think I could take these with me or offer them for sale.  Hadn't really considered that before ?

    NO - in a word.

I have done several overseas moves where the removers have packed everything, and I do mean everything. I still have  a box of cling film with an Aussie logo on it!
