*Update* - I was right! - Feel like I'm being cheated - Selling my car through a business...

Well both/ either technically.Herzlos said:Homer_home said:A cam belt will not need changing if the car has only done 10,000 miles thats ridiculous, tell them to do one
Cam belts are done based on age, not mileage. It could well be due.1 -
They're scheduled based on both.Herzlos said:

It's just that, for most private owners, the age comes up before the mileage.0 -
so is it the Audi or do i need to get the crystal ball out of the loft.0

No sorry, not that car! If I'm being completely honest it's similar to the Audi RS4 but not an Audi variant (APOLOGIES don't hate me, I was just nervous as if anyone got close and the company got wind then I'd lose my argument).mobileron said:so is it the Audi or do i need to get the crystal ball out of the loft.
*** UPDATE ***
Firstly, I'm glad of my suspicions and praise the internet!!! I scoured the web for hours and found a post of someone very excited for their soon to be collected new car......which they'd paid 15k for!!!
Needless to say I was straight onto the business who were tripping over themselves trying to explain that they'd (still unbelievable to read though I'm writing it!!!) "factored in 2k on the buyers side" for any repairs that may have arisen that they'd need to repair and they wouldn't have to bother me for and warranty.
My straight up answer was that it wasn't included in their cost breakdown, nothing was transparent and that I was in fact paying for the new buyers warranty and "repairs"! I demanded the car back or the fees I'm rightfully owed.
In the interest of keeping me and the blissfully unaware buyer happy they're paying me what I'm owed.
Moral of the story...trust your gut. It's sad that the industry is plagued with such dishonesty. I can only imagine how much they've made by misrepresenting figures to sellers.

Thanks for the update as many don't!
This should be a lesson to all, don't sell your car via outfits like that.
Take care and good to hear great news

And the first question people would have asked would have been what type of car.0

What you have said is very understandable as the car you are talking about is rare-ish and the scenario would be very rare.GetSmarterVictoria said:
Your username is well suited I see. I hardly believe that the model of car had much bearing on the facts and I was trying to maintain anonymity which I don't think is unreasonable. Arguably I could just have not disclosed the car which would have probably been the better choice but hindsight and all.Grumpy_chap said:
I agree dishonesty and misrepresentation is far too commonplace and abhorrent behaviour that should be stamped out.GetSmarterVictoria said:It's sad that the industry is plagued with such dishonesty. I can only imagine how much they've made by misrepresenting figures to sellers.
Just like people posting about their Non-Audi RS4 Avant, but asking for help from volunteers on a public forum who are then led up the garden path. An abuse of peoples' generosity in my book. It is likely that better advice could have been given more quickly if the question was complete and honest.
Good luck with everything.-3 -
But the car isn't the one that she was talking about. She lied about it. It's not a Avant, it's a car like an avant. If people come on asking for assistance it's a bit disrespectful to waste people's time by giving false information. If the OP didn't want to be traced perhaps she shouldn't use a name in her username.sweetsand said:

And calm down - 200 posts a day is a little excessive, don't you think. And don't report people because you disagree with them. You might be eager to please, but I think you have knowledge gaps which you are not perhaps as eager to acknowledge.10 -
I think you've been made a mug of either way. I cant believe anyone would agree to this sort of selling.GetSmarterVictoria said:

Why on earth are you selling a car in this way?Private sale - the most money but the most hassle.
Part Ex - least money but easiest.
Sell into motor trade - need to shop around for a willing buyer. The likes of WBAC are woefully underpriced. No idea why you’d be using a third party agent unless this was something very rare and expensive (which it’s not).1
