So you bought a car for £15k two years ago and are advertising it for £16k now?

And you also slag off WBAC, you might not like what they offer you but at least it sets a base price (but only if you describe it accurately)

Not only do they slag off WBAC but they haven't bothered to spend 30s getting a price that doesn't have to be accepted.

I wonder if it is this one.
    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/201908281615796
The price was showing as £13999 although they have just put it back up to £14999 whilst I was typing this.

Mileage in the last couple of years is around 4000 and owned two years. Only different is it has been on sale 11 months not 8.

Turning to the add auto trader flags it is well bellow market value, the dealer flags issues with the service history paper work and it has been listed for sale for 11 months. That would put most buyers off.

Whats the issue? If you dont want to do that don't do it.
    And what car?
I think it's because I'm worried that they're going to say, fine if you're not going with the sale then we'll cease business and give me the car back (they've had it for 8 months).  That will cost me £795 and then I've got to insure, tax, mot it and bring it to a place where I can't store it.

If you do that and put it on Ebay or sell it to WBAC that'll end up being cheaper than paying out about £4000 in commission, a cambelt, headlight repair and oil change and that's even before we consider the £2250 the buyer negotiated off it.
If you're going to tax, insure and MOT it why do you need to store it anywhere? It will be fully legal to keep on the road so surely there must some space on your street or an adjacent street where you can park it for free?

  • A cam belt will not need changing if the car has only done 10,000 miles thats ridiculous, tell them to do one

How do you see on Autotrader how long a car has been listed for?

It's is embedded in the URL for the advert. In this case the advert ID is 201908281615796, that decodes to advert 1615796 posted on 28/08/2019. Something very useful to know when looking at dealer stock.

They've been advertising it but no buyers as of yet. Had one buyer but it fell through when the covid stuff hit.
did you not try we buy your car people or ebay? Sorry, someone had to ask.
we had a RS4 a long time ago and got a rattle on it and we sold it and I recall my OH saying its got a chain like th Mercs and not a cam belt like the Fords. You car could be newer and different but I doubt it. Why has no one else picked this up??

Cam belts are done based on age, not mileage. It could well be due.
