Morning 😊 sorry I didn’t want to turn the thread into a slagging DP off... I am probably a little harsh tbh. He has done rubbish removals and odd jobs for the last 7 years whilst mainly being a SAHD and always had good bit of work in summer but then barely anything from September to March which we had a good routine working with financially... obviously the last 2 years he hasn’t even had the good summers due to covid and the economic impact of it due to a lot of his customers were in the entertainment/ cash/ beauty industries... basically everything that got hit worst by covid and they still haven’t got back on their feet plus there are the newly unemployed that have started rubbish removals and undercut him stupidly.
anyway we kind of felt the rubbish removals we’re coming to an end last year and he started the theory for his HGV, he done the 2nd part of the test in January then lockdown happened the next day 😩 roll onto now and me moaning and we remembered about it lol so last night he booked part 3 of the test and spoke to an instructor about the practical. The instructor also said if he passes then he has work for him straight away! So dp has bought himself a bit of time now whilst I shut up lol!In other news.... in April the nurse bank stopped paying us holidays as we earned them so that was a £3 an hour pay cut. The unions took them to court and they’ve agreed they were wrong to do that with no notice or whatever so now the £3 is back until the 1st of September when we’ll have to sign new contracts to agree to it. All staff with permanent posts are unable to accrue holidays as we already get our allowance from our main job. Honestly they are so so cheeky.Today is my last day off to get stuff done then It’s my birthday tomorrow and I’m back to work on Saturday 🤦🏼♀️ The kitchen really is coming together though. I don’t think there’s much else to report. Monthly pay is 💩 as I can’t juggle money every week now 😭 xxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Today I’m 34
which means 6 years to pay £66,300! Will I do it?? I think I will. I know I didn’t achieve the 10% in the first year but that’s because I have put so much money into the house so it’s nice to live in for good!
My first 2 year fix ends in March at 2.34% I wonder if the rates are still lower by then. I have a beautiful clear credit report and a contract in work now so in a much better position than when I got the mortgage but I think I’ll be fixing again with the same company then in another 2 years I’ll be looking at offset mortgages as I really like the look of them and it would be super motivating.Well happy birthday to me! I am having a lazy day on the couch as I have a hangover and am back to work tomorrow so my body if getting a good break today! XxxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Happy birthday and enjoy your day!
I also think for me, a few years in once the mortgage is down a bit the offset is the way forward with the motivation and the fact we all save so much in pots here.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Happy birthday to your boys @abba1772
@LadyWithAPlan I do think offset mortgage looks very appealing! Probably scary at first having a big - balance but it’ll be nice to see it drop on a monthly basis!Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Well here’s a new spanner in the works... I’ve only gone and fell over and fractured my elbow 😭😭😭 honestly you couldn’t make it up! It’s a good job I got my contract in work so I should get paid for at least a month. I am in so much pain though.I have stuff to do in the kitchen still such as painting, cleaning and levelling the floor. My dad knows a painter who is not the most desirable person to have in the house but he’s a good painter and extremely cheap so desperate times mean I’ll have to get him in. I’ve asked the kitchen fitter if he does tiling and he can good that for £70 so that’s not too bad and saves me a job.I’m not going to be able to drive for a few weeks so I think that’s going to be the biggest thing I’ll struggle with but I’ll have to manage. It’s more mentally for my freedom rather than physically driving that I’ll miss.Life has been a big fat pile of 💩 the last 2 years and I’m getting really fed up with it now 🤯 XXMortgage started August 2020 £69,700
