Thanks. My brother disappeared for a week and made a serious attempt at taking his own life so it’s not something I can switch off from tbh. I’m a bit more settled now he’s in hospital and hopefully getting the support he needs. I just love him so much I can’t stop worrying.Yes I passed the exam thankyou! I’ve started thinking of my next steps now I’ve gone permanent. A&E is no good for my health long term. It’s too physically and mentally draining. I done a MSC in Public Health (Addictions) so I’m going to start trying to get in with the alcohol specialist nurses after the summer holidays as that’s the route I really want to go down!Payday is Wednesday apparently and payslips go on Monday so I’m hoping for a better pay this month to get this kitchen boxed off 🤞🏼 If I pass the credit check for the 3 years 0% apr I think I’ll manage to do all of the kitchen prep and accessories with the £1500 I have saved then I’ll be back on the straight and narrow! I’m not expecting to go over by much 🤞🏼XxxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Sorry to hear about your brother, it is very worrying and totally understand how you cant switch off. I'm glad he is in the right place to help him now.
Well done on the exam and its good you have a plan going forward. Payday i hope for you will be good. I have my first new payday at new job next week so am looking forward to seeing what I might get. Your kitchen will look great once done and well done for sticking to your budget - bet it will be worth doing a lot of the preparation yourself.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Pay was rubbish... £2387 pre deductions and £1301 post 🤦🏼♀️ I genuinely give up worrying anymore. The gods are against me.I’m gonna keep it all in my current account (well about £600 post bills) whilst I get this kitchen sorted. I’m not going to make an op yet but I will with whatever is left on 17th August as that’ll be my 1 year anniversary of having a mortgage.Updated my signature. The emergency fund is looking after itself. Keep paying odds and sods off the 0% credit card. I probably have more to add but I’m 3/4 the way through a night shift and extremely tired. Is there something up with your tax code as that's a lot of deductions!

Unfortunately I think it’s correct. I knew it would happen with the back pay of the underpayment. I give up worrying about it now. I can’t change it.
I’m back in work tonight and then 2 shifts next week then got 2 weeks off! I can’t wait! I’ve got loads going on in august though so need to look at how much it’s gonna cost!
I absolutely hate nights. I am a horrible cow when I’m on them. So short tempered and miserable at home.I need to get window shopping for washing machine and dishwasher. If I buy separate I have to pay the fitter £130 to install them. If I buy from wren I don’t really know what the prices are but as they do price match it’s probably cheaper to buy off them and not pay the fitter. I’ve got an appointment on Thursday with wren to finalise the plans. I just want it out the way now. I’m boring myself looking at it all the time! XMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Good morning it’s the end of the month finally! Even with all these kitchen spends I am £700 better off than last month so I’ll take that as a little win even though it’ll be wiped out in a few days.I’ve just paid off my little bills 0% credit card and catalogue. It’s lovely not having a car insurance direct debit for myself!I had to cancel my appointment with Wren yesterday as we had loads of work to do in the kitchen in prep for the plasterer. He did call yesterday and say he can come today but even though we worked on it till 10pm it’s not quite ready for him. Hopefully he will come tomorrow.I’m back to debating what my ‘goals’ are.. obviously I really want to be mortgage free but I need to be debt free more importantly so I am thinking of overpaying the kitchen as a priority. Even though it’s going to be 0% finance I don’t really want to be paying £200 a month for 3 years. I think I could get it paid in 2 or maybe less if I prioritise it.I need to make another £100 op before 17th august as this will be my 1 year mortgage anniversary and the £100 will mean I’ve knocked a full year off the mortgage 😊Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

You don't need to hammer the mortgage to clear it really quickly. It's also not a huge mortgage compared to most people.
Unlike most people, you've lived in that property for several years and know what needs doing to make it the perfect home.
In your situation I would keep the mortgage ticking over with the normal contractual payments, focusing on getting savings and the house done. If there is a month or two where you have a spare few quid then make an overpayment, aside from that review your financial position in a year and see where things are at.

Thanks @MovingForwards you always have a good way of looking at things!I went to Wren and finalised the plans! I also passed the credit check for the 0% finance so that’s one less worry. The plasterer is here boarding the ceiling so it already looks so much better. I’m happy we’re finally at the putting back together stage now!I’ve booked a little late shift for tomorrow which will give me £100 to get to Leicester Friday for my nans 70th bday meal I also need to buy her a present and the kids something decent to wear through the week. I’m gonna do a Twilight Wednesday too for another little bank payment then I’ll enjoy 2 weeks off before I get into a good little work routine and start smashing all these bills!I’m feeling positive and In a can do attitude today so fingers crossed it continues! 😊Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

I do try FTBD, otherwise everything would be like a steaming pile of do do, and depressing. I look for a positive, no matter how small, as that changes the outlook.
Congratulations passing the finance checks, it's another step away from the past. Grabbing the bank provides the money for the extra occasional expenses and will allow you to balance the books.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
Well last night it dawned on me that I’ve just made another fat financial commitment so I was awake till 3am doing a brand new spreadsheet! The original ‘debt free wannabe’ was created in 2016 and used to get rid of the debt and clean up my credit report. Next was ‘house buying’ created in 2018 which got me my mortgage! And this new one is called ‘new bills post reno’
the situation on paper is dire... post all financial commitments I’m left with £600 a month for food, clothes, entertainment, and life for a family of 5 🤦🏼♀️ Luckily I have the ability to work bank shifts so I can earn more money as an when needed.I’ve already previously shaved down the regular payments to the smallest possible so the only extras I can focus on getting rid of are in this order (all 0% interest)
1. studio £120
2. Fine £360
3. bathroom finance £833.73
4. Credit card £1300
Kitchen £8424
Mortgage £66300
if I clear 1,2&3 first that will free £88 a month to throw at number 4.
ive read the finance agreement last night for the kitchen and although I can overpay it won’t bring down the monthly payments just bring forward the end date so I might not bother with that I’d rather put money to the mortgage and savings.
I’m off to work in a minute 🙄 warm some extra pennies to get rid of all this finance!Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700
