  • I work in finance, its really not difficult to get peoples pay right. Its outrageous that its wrong by so much. Kick up an absolute stink about it, if you have email then I would contact someone high up in HR to complain.....and lay it on thick (mortgage to pay / kids to feed etc). They absolutely can and should put in an emergency payment to make things right (we've had to do this before). Good luck and make sure you stand up for yourself.
Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
    OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200

I can't believe they've messed it up again! Do find email addresses and back up conversations in writing.

Hope work do pay you today, if it's not in by lunchtime contact them to chase it up.
O/Ps can be made in the future. That's the great thing being, instead of them being 'overpayments' they are 'optional payments' at the moment!

You are making fabulous progress, Ftb, this is a long term project, think of OPs over the year, not monthly - and they are voluntary!
On the anxiety, try to reframe how you feel, your anxiety has been high - with your job it comes with the territory at times. So yes, it's real and you're feeling it, and it has an evolutionary purpose - to warn us about threat. BUT you have worked through it, you're still standing AND moving forward. Each time you feel anxious but keep doing what you need to do, you become stronger in coping with it, facing things that make you anxious and working through it is like a vaccine - you may still feel anxious next time, but it will be less severe.
    2014 starting mortgage £165,000
2015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in full
    Current outstanding balance - £115,856

Thanks for the encouragement @Chiglepig it’s really strange as I’ve never been an anxious person but I’d say since 2018 when the proverbial first hit the fan for us I’ve become worse and worse as I get older. I just always have that feeling of impending doom 😩

I’m good now though thanks! I went to town yesterday and treated myself
to some new shoes and clothes. Only
spent £60 but it really made me feel better. I was getting to a point where I was just working and spending on the house and it was feeling relentless.

I got a £195 payment off work. I think it should have been in the region of £400 but I’ll leave it at that as I Cba stressing about it anymore. I got my weekly bank payslip and the salary is back to £30,615 which is the main thing I was worried about. Bank pay isn’t very good anymore as I’ve put my tax code onto the permanent job so from earning £144 I take home £87 after deductions.

The kitchen fitter rang earlier to come and do the pre-fit survey but I said I was in work. The house just isn’t in a state for random people to turn up last minute! I’m gonna have a cleaning day tomorrow.
