I would have hoped they could suspend this ID verification for the duration of lockdown. I do not regard a visit to TSB as "essential".
This seems like a pointless exercise in red tape and form filling. A banal "we make the rules / jobs worth attitude".

I have recently made an Application for Disclosure Scotland PVG, as I work with children & vulnerable adults. There is a very good reason to verify my ID. They arranged to do this by a video link.

If you're at high risk (clinically extremely vulnerable) from coronavirus (COVID-19), you were advised to take extra steps to protect yourself until 1 August 2020. This was called shielding.

In England, the risk of getting coronavirus is now low enough that you’re no longer advised to shield. <<<

So while I understand your apprehension after months inside. You just need to take care, wear a mask and avoid close contact.

Perhaps I am over reacting, but I do intend switching my accounts if TSB insist I attend a branch.
    Sorry dunstonh  :'(

I am not being an apologist for TSB or their timing and processes.  Just trying to explain why these things happen.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

I have had an account with TSB since before they merged with Lloyds in 1995.

The first trustee savings bank was established by Reverend Henry Duncan of Ruthwell in Dumfriesshire for his poorest parishioners in 1810, with its sole purpose being to serve the local people in the community.

I took my ID in last week for a credit card application. Today they've asked for ID. Most frustrating to trek into branch twice amidst a global pandemic (!)
:p That's TSB for you. All over the floor.

Seriously. I would raise a complaint if I were you.

I am pleased to report some good news:
I received the letter dated 13th August.
    I made a complaint.
I received a telephone call this morning:
    • I have been excused from visiting the branch to provide ID.
    • A note has been added to my file.
    • I was told TSB is working on an online system for ID verification which they hope to introduce later this year.
