Tsb Bank wants proof of address and photo id

Try using your account number as reference. I'm sure that's what I did but honestly can't recall now.crumpet_man said:
I tired this and it asks for "the reference number we have emailed you" and will not proceed without a valid reference. I can see no reference on my letter.funkycredit said:You can do the ID check online. Login via the mobile app and then at the bottom you see the product icons. Swipe to the far right and select the ID Check icon. You then follow on-screen prompts.

Tried that too, it doesn't work. On the letter there is no mention of doing the ID check online so I suspect that option is only for specific requests.0

How weird. Maybe they've changed the process then? Bit pointless even being there really! Surely a digisign like NatWest / hsbc / Amex etc use would be easier.crumpet_man said:Tried that too, it doesn't work. I have not been asked for proof of ID so far.If I turn up at my local branch with passport and wearing the proscribed facemask, what then?It would be illegal to remove my mask so it will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to prove ID in the current situation.1

I doubt that it would be classed as an offence to briefly remove your face covering in this situation. I’m rather hoping that people entering the country are required to do just that.Descrabled said:I have not been asked for proof of ID so far.If I turn up at my local branch with passport and wearing the proscribed facemask, what then?It would be illegal to remove my mask so it will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to prove ID in the current situation.1 -
I would have hoped they could suspend this ID verification for the duration of lockdown. I do not regard a visit to TSB as "essential".
This seems like a pointless exercise in red tape and form filling. A banal "we make the rules / jobs worth attitude".
I have recently made an Application for Disclosure Scotland PVG, as I work with children & vulnerable adults. There is a very good reason to verify my ID. They arranged to do this by a video link.

I disagree. We are not in lockdown any more and fraudsters never were in lockdown.missile said:I would have hoped they could suspend this ID verification for the duration of lockdown. I do not regard a visit to TSB as "essential".

KYC and AML are not red tape or form filling exercises. It is the law. Do you really believe that a TSB should risk a fine for non compliance?

Some parts of the UK are in lock down. I am in one of those.RG2015 said:

Fraudsters can easily produce fake documents and spoof ID checks at the branch. The only people who are inconvenienced are honest Joe.
As has already been explained by Dunsworth. They are guidelines. It is up to TSB to decide what action they should take to comply."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

@missile, Sorry about the lockdown comment. I have lost track a bit. Yes, I know that the regulations are guidelines and agree that TSB appear more demanding than others.missile said:

Nevertheless, I believe that TSB are acting in good faith.
PS I hope that @dunstonh is not offended by being referred to as Dunsworth.

I took my ID in last week for a credit card application. Today they've asked for ID. Most frustrating to trek into branch twice amidst a global pandemic (!)0
