It has been much cooler here today, so I have managed some flying and other stuff:
- WMx2
- sent some emails
- emulsioned the alcove white (again) and decided that what I've done is sufficient to give a good base for the first of 2 coats of the new shade "apricot macaroon"
- primed/undercoated the piece of manky skirting in the bathroom. It's now dry and ready to gloss, and I will also revive the other skirting in there with a quick coat of gloss
- checked the shelf uprights which were delivered yesterday and they are fine
- found that the LR ceiling is wet again after last night's downpour
- took Rosie for a nice walk in a cool wood before lunch - she has since refused all offers of further walks because there is still some thunder around
- ordered curtain lining and tape
- chickened out of opening the new bank account (they were asking all sorts of questions that I couldn't answer) and moved the money across into an existing account which pays the second-highest rate instead
- did some online jigsaws when my brain couldn't cope with anything else
What with a neurotic dog, grumpy husband (his new dressing always hurts for 24 hours, so that's 2 days a week when I can't expect him to be civil) and my own doldrums, it's not been the happiest of days. I'm hoping that tomorrow will be much nicer, if only I can get DH into the car and ready to roll by 09.15.9 -
Hi all
I am sooooo tired. Not sleeping well, restless and keep having odd dreams. Up at 6am, half hour HIIT, out at 7.30 for a site meeting, called to pick up prescription then back to WFH. Worked until Asda came at 12 then had a break, made casserole for tea, more paid stuff. Finished for the day now, tea eaten, feet up. I have done very little flying today but can catch up tomorrow as I have done most of my hours at the paid stuff.
Dizzy I think about you every time there is heavy rain. It's been bone dry here, not a drop for days.

Evening all
Well it’s cooler here today but still pretty sticky, I am very pleased with the productive day I have had. We are away for the weekend visiting FIL and SIL, this morning I brought my laptop down to the kitchen so I could start work while also keeping an eye on my cooking... 2 cakes made, pasta bake made for an easy family supper tomorrow as no doubt we won’t feel like cooking much after travelling for most of the day.
After that I started work proper, full day done then afterwards I’ve cleaned bathroom, en-suite, downstairs loo, hoovered through whole house, made supper and cleaned up after it. Bins emptied, litter trays emptied and washed, laundry folded and put away.
sitting down now, still need to pack a bag but may do that in the morning.
Have a good weekend all and will catch you on the new thread x8 -
Ground floor dysoned
towels washed, cat covers washed
telephone GP appointment decluttered I have a poorly bruised elbow and a new bumped head.8 -
More (((hugs))) for dancemum xx
I have glossed all the skirting that I can reach in the bathroom - there is one corner with a heavy tallboy in it, which I will have to move out when the new vinyl flooring is laid, so I can do that bit then, and for now it isn't visible
I have also put all Rosie's things out for tomorrow's excursion and sorted out my clothes (2 choices: hot or very hot weather) and my rain jacket. I can see myself getting up at 6.00 to wake DH so that his tablet has time to work before we leave home, which means that I will be the one preparing breakfast. The batch of yogurt that I made earlier - did I omit that from my list of achievements? - has only just finished so it's too hot to use right now, or I'd have done overnight oats.
Cooler tonight, so I hope I get some decent sleep. Here's wishing all the WAC members a better night too xx8 -
Ouch Dancemum that doesn't sound good, hugs.
Not exactly WAC but hot last night so at 2am I went and sat on the drive for 45 mins hoping to see the meteor shower, despite it being very clear with lots of other stars, I didn't see any. As a result, felt even dopier than usual and slept late.
However we've had a lot of thunderstorms and downpour which has filled up the water butts and certainly made pulling out weeds easier.
Fed tomatoes and gathered tomatoes and plums.
One load through DW.
Did quite a bit more admin. Need to do the final push on tidying my study as I did about 3/4 of it a while back and dumped a load on the spare bed to give me room to manoeuvre; however, my brother is working in the area 2 days/week for a while so after discussion, Mr N and I are happy for him to stay with us which gives me a target for making the room accessible.
Went for a run, very humid but less burning glare than of late.
Changed some of my Mr T points for a Chef & Brewer voucher as it's on triple reward and our friends are staying in one this weekend so I expect we will join them for dinner one eve.
Sorted out a load of things to be posted.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.9 -
Morning all. Hugs for Dancemum and anyone else who needs them.
Still no rain here so I'm about to water the garden again. There will no doubt be three hours of walking today with DHs new regime. I'll report back with anything else.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.8 -
Good morning
Lots of hugs, dancemum x
We have rain atm! Not a great downpour but it is certainly cooler.
Full day at paid stuff. DH has the day off, but apparently doesn’t need my list of jobs... wm is on, so he can sort that out when it is done, for starters!
Have a lovely day all. Enjoy your meet-up, Iona.8 -
Morning all.
Huge hugs Dancemum x
Up at sparrow fart (well felt like) to take DD to garage for MOT and service. Well to go with her and bring her back.
It's had a go at raining in the night, but clearly with minimal effort lol. I have washing to go out when I can tear myself away from the PC. Although the car thermometer is ambitiously claiming its 15 degC it still feels warm!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear8 -
