Morning all!
We actually set off on time yesterday to drive to Blenheim Palace
Halfway down the M40 we drove through several downpours, and that set the pattern for the day.
Met up with DD and DGS1+2, and determined that although DGS1 is the same height as me, he has not quite overtaken me yet.
We had coffee first, then the boys went in the adventure playground before we sat down for lunch. Fortunately, while DH and DD were in the cafe queue, I managed to grab a table under the wide eaves of the cafe (they only have outdoor seating) because 5 minutes into our meal there was another downpour. With a couple of big umbrellas that DD carries around in her car boot and some shelter from the eaves, our pizza stayed dry and so did we, but the people at the next table weren't so lucky, as the gutter above them overflowed into their lunch
After lunch we took the little train down to the main courtyard and did a bit more shower dodging. The palace itself was closed for filming, but DD, the boys, Rosie and I decided to risk a walk to the bridge (about 400m from the palace), whilst DH stayed in the courtyard. As we got to the bridge, the heavens opened again, and although we sheltered under some large trees, we got absolutely soaked, so we scuttled back to the courtyard cafe with seating under cover for drinks and cakes. Rosie was not amused! (though she did enjoy being out with us all day).
We drove home across the Cotswolds to find that it hadn't rained at all this side of the hills! Never mind, we had all chatted non-stop and just enjoyed being together again at last, and we have free entry for a year so hopefully will be able to meet up there again in a few weeks' time
This morning I have rollered the first coat of apricot macaron emulsion onto the alcove wall in the study, so that DS1 can put up the shelf supports for me. I like the colour, and it is an exact match for some of the birds on my new curtain material, though I was expecting it to be slightly more muted! However, the books will fill most of the alcove, and I shall put up some large posters and lots of photographs on the other walls, so all will be well. I always find that once the new colour is applied everywhere, you suddenly no longer see the contrast with the old (I haven't painted completely over the white, having left all the edges and cutting in for the decorator to do) and the room comes together when you put the furniture back in.
How are you getting on, asb?
My blackout curtain lining fabric arrived this morning, so I can sew next week. I still need to get some thread and the backing material for cushions, but I'll cut the curtains and see how much is left over for cushions first.
Will take Rosie for a walk in a bit of sunshine next, to make up for yesterday!

No sunshine here ionafan. I'm sharing kaz's east coast sea fret and there is a breeze.
Where did the morning go? I had a shower; got dressed; changed the towels in the bathroom; washed towels and tea towels; pegged out washing; sorted contents of laundry hamper into loads; set a load swishing; ripped up and recycled a box; wrapped a birthday present for DS to give to his god-daughter (5 today); put out the rubbish; recycled / binned the inner packaging from three deliveries received this week; DS's dad came to cut the grass and then we had a coffee. Morning gone and I've not even fed the birds yet - they'll be black-listing me!!! But I haven't rushed at anything just pootled along.
How are you doing YL?

Right ceiling finally done, but I keep touching it up as it think I have missed a bit, so I made myself go out, so it can dry in peace, but the local town is packed................so I've come home just as the heavens have opened, now there is a steady downpour. Also I saw a deer in the garden, it had jumped over the low back fence, grabbed the camera and got a couple of shots but it then jumped back over and went.I am awarding myself the afternoon off, so I don't keep poking the filler that is still drying in the hallway, might see if there is a film on telly or have a snooze!Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Ionafan sounds like you had a nice day, despite the weather!
Round DH was supposed to be working today but 6 day weeks are taking it out of him so he didnt go. We have been to our local market instead which we havent done for months. We bought 2 out of date bars of Galaxy for 50p from the bargain stall, a sponge cake, some sausage rolls for DH, two big bags of crisps and some flapjack!!! Oh and 2 second hand paperbook books which are now quarantined.
We are now back home, drinking tea and working our way through the cake. Its drizzling out. Going to read a bit then think about doing something productive.9 -
Finally checking in, as I didn’t want to get distracted earlier by saying that I had done a whole lot of nothing again...Was in the WAC from about 3am, but must have dozed off about 5ish. We are out to a SD bbq this evening (gazebos to make sure that the 3 family groups can keep apart), so of course it has been mizzling all day. I volunteered puds - I have made individual ones so that no one has to touch anyone else’s, so I hope that works. Taken DD to small town for a part time job interview then she drove us back with the shiny L plates on...
HHI decluttered, now I have to write a complaint email about a lost delivery - how do you lose a mattress that you have given a 2 hour delivery slot for?? Then I need to clean the fridge in the utility room as I think that is the source of a strange smell in there, since some careless person left the door open the other night 😡.I too feel like I am pootling, but not really getting anywhere.Glad you had a lovely day yesterday, Iona.6 -
Thought I'd inserted a pic into my previous post, but obviously didn't do it correctly! Here's Rosie at Blenheim yesterday...
She is a lot happier now after a lovely long walk along the sunny lane and through the dry woods. We bumped into some friends from church with their soon-to-be-going-for-his-final-Guide-Dog-training Labrador "puppy" and she decided he was worth playing with, so they chased each other round and round a clearing.
Having just eaten lunch with DH and photographed a couple of items to put on Freecycle if DS1 doesn't want them, , I'm about to do the second coat of paint in the alcove. Then I have some alpine strawberries, gladioli corms and crocosmia plants to put out, and that will leave both the utility and outside the front door a lot tidier. I will definitely have to water the pots tonight.9 -
She is gorgeous, Iona!Email written, facts checked, email sent. Fridge wiped out with M!lton, and a dish of bicarb put in it. I think it smells better already. Now to tackle the buried worktops in the utility room.6

DS has sorted out a drawer (well his GF was the catalyst) - drawer cleaned and now put to better use; I am going through all he has thrown as some stuff will be useful for work, some can be recycled ( 3 dead phones for a start) so it all does not go straight to landfill. Lovely to see Rosie

Lovely photo of Rosie, Iona x
I approve of do a bit, sit a bit days.
Spent the morning being check over at the smaller local hospital they had to get a 2nd opinion from the larger one. I have a crack in my jaw. I can’t open my mouth as much as usual so have to have soft food for a while. Maybe I will loose something weight. Apparently trifle and chocolate buttons don’t hurt thoughI’m glad it is cooler here too.DH has sorted the airing cupboard out and filled the ironing basket up.
i have cleaned the bathroom and changed the mats.
i didn’t get to see dancegran so will do that tomorrow first thing.8
