We received our mortgage offer from Leeds on Dec 10th and exchanged contracts on Feb 26th. I had no delays with Leeds at all everything went through steadily from application to exhange.

Wont complete till end of April as it’s a new build so still worry something will go wrong but so far so good!

Only gripe was the lack of updates from my solicitor that caused more worry but I think that’s normal. I called Leeds myself a couple times and they were lovely to deal with.
  • Hi all

Been keeping an eye on this particular chat forum since applying for my mortgage application through Leeds Bulding Society and thought I would provide some informarion and the timeline of where Im at just now. I am a first time buyer requesting a 90% Loan To Value for a mortgage on my own.

Prior to the day of my full application I had all relevant documents sent to my mortgage advisor which included three months statements, three wage slips, P60, driving license, proof of address letter & the home report for the property. The day when my application was submitted the hard search appeared on my Experian report which I seen a week later.

I was asked on the 11th of February where I was getting the money from which was my own savings & from my Mum. My Mum had to sign a form stating this was a gift and not a loan. I also previously had a mis-sold loan from Amigo Loans which I received a refund which was on my bank statement in November, Leeds wanted to know more about this so I sent over the evidence to support this.

On the 20th of February Leeds requested a new home report to carry out Valuation as the one I had was expired. The annoying thing about this was they had the document and decided to ask for a refreshed home report exactly to the day 3 months later. The home report was dated 20/11/20. Seemed a bit of an invconvenience and Im currently waiting for the new home report. I had to contact the estate agents who sold the property to do this. Im hoping this week it should be available.

According to my mortgage advisor every other area of my mortgage application has been given the green light & has passed the underwriting stages on Leeds side. It is only the refreshed home report they need and I will receive my mortgage offer officially. I dont know what it looks like on the Leeds website as I dont have access but I hope that is the case.

3rd February - DIP & Soft Search (Experian)

4th February - Full Application Submitted & Hard Search (Experian)

11th February - Gift Deposit form sent & query regarding bank statement

20th - Valuation delay due to updated Home Report

Will update hopefully once everything has been completed. Hope this helps anyone who may have similar experiences/issues 😀😀😀

Still waiting patiently as last update was on Friday 19th Feb that they required more information on the property from our valuation which they mentioned was standard procedure - however been a week later and chased up and our broker is pushing Leeds to give us our offer as they have involved our solicitors now. Our current timeline overall:

7th Jan 2021 - DiP approved and application submitted
    8th Jan 2021 - Signed Declaration
11th Jan 2021 - Extra docs requested and sent
    14th Jan 2021 - Valuation booked for 3rd Feb
    3rd Feb 2021 - Valuation carried out
8th Feb 2021 - Valuation report received by Leeds
19th Feb 2021 - Leeds requested more info of property

Really hope we get our offer soon as this is making me so anxious!!

Hi all i’ve been following this thread as we have gone with Leeds building society for our mortgage through an estate agent broker. Ours is quite a straight forward case, we are selling ours to a first time buyer and purchasing something bigger, requesting 80% LTV.
    15/3/2021- MIP
16/03/2021- mortgage application submitted with 3 months payslips and bank statements, ID etc
16/03/2021 - hard search showing on Experian
    24/03/2021 - signed declaration
26/03/2021 - advised valuation done and all ok
    06/04/2021 - mortgage approved
Bearing in mind the Easter bank holiday I thought this was quite quick.

I’m just starting with my application but so far

    09/04 - DIP
    12/04 - Application
13/04 - Hard search on credit file
13/04 - left VM with seller for valuation (my dad is the seller and I already live in the property)

Does anyone know if they are just doing desktop valuations or physical ones? We are in the middle of redecorating and had planned on having this weekend off but not now if they intend on coming out to the property 🙈

  • Anyone currently applying with Leeds? How long have you been waiting for the application?

Yep, this is my third application with Leeds as my previous applications fell through due to the EWS1 form! However, me and my bf have now found another flat in a different location and we are at post valuation stage. Our valuation was last Tuesday so our MB told us they are working on a 7 day timescale so hopefully this time we will pass this stage to offer!! Again, super anxious and feeling like we are going round in circles and never going past the valuation stage. We are a bit more confident on this one as the process was so quick up to now compared to our previous applications. Fingers crossed we hear something soon!!

Ooh very similar timing to me then. Do you know if your valuation was done before it went to the underwriters?
