New Halifax Reward account. Has anyone figured out a way around £500 spending?

Exactly this. If you've used your Visa Debit functionality to spend £500 you will meet the condition and the tracker will show as much in a few days.kaMelo said:
If you entered your 16 digit card no. to pay into the savings account then it should qualify. The only thing I would add is to check the date on the rewards tracker. It's usually a couple of days behind so if you've only just paid the money into the savings account it could take a couple of days to update.Rich2808 said:Apologies for resurrecting this old thread - and asking a question covered before. But I just wanted to clarity what transactions relating to 'money transfers' qualify for the £500 debit card payment requirement to trigger a reward payment monthly.
Am I correct in assuming that if you use your debit card to say pay £500 into a cash savings account (recorded by Halifax as financial institutions merchandisers and services) you would not qualify for a monthly reward - but if you used the debit card to pay off a £500 credit card bill for example you would?
I tried the former - and its not showing me as qualifying for the monthly reward - as its 'a money transfer to another account'.

Thanks in advance for your help on this!
The merchant you choose to spend that £500 with does not matter.3 -
Where are you getting that wording?Rich2808 said:....

....
From your statement/list of transactions? Or some generic list of stuff?
If you paid by debit card you paid by debit card. That wouldn't - shouldn't - show up as a money transfer.
So is that wording actually on your account transaction list or are you just overworrying and need to wait a few days (as others have suggested).0 -
"Money transfer" is usually a CC term.In my experience, any cleared debit card transaction will count towards the Halifax DC requirements. The tracker is usually a few days late but eventually it gets it right. I've paid into Revolut, YBS and Skipton in the past without any issues.0

there are a few payments which don't count towards the reward extras offers which includes cash machine withdrawals and
'when you make a money transfer to another account'

Isn't a transfer via a debit card to a savings account a money transfer to another account - as opposed to a debit card payment for goods or services.
My debit card payment cleared last Monday - but on the rewards tracker on the app it says I won't (yet) qualify for the November reward.
Hence my question.
I could still make a £500 debit card payment to pay off a credit card - but I wanted to check whether people had got rewards for savings transfers before I made the credit card payment.0 -
I'm not sure I see why a credit card bill payment would not be a 'money transfer to another account' if a deposit to savings account is.Rich2808 said:

To be a bit more reductive, every debit card payment is arguably a 'money transfer to another account'!0 -
I've received my last reward payment in May. I was too busy with life to look into it. Yesterday I visited a local Halifax branch. A very nice lady explained to me that "paying credit card bills doesn't count - you have to go shopping in high street with your card". I also have paypal business debit card linked to the halifax card and I think this also doesn't count.Looking at the statements, in April I spent 500 by paying credit cards and this seem to have qualified me for the reward.Perhaps the rules have changed since then?0

She may have been very pleasant but if those words in quotes were actually what she said, then I think she was mistaken.Emily_Joy said:I've received my last reward payment in May. Every month I pay Barclaycard and American Express credits card bills will my Halifax debit card and so far have received the reward every month.Debt Free: 01/01/2020

Interesting. The lady yesterday was very convincing. I have also tend to use AMEX and Barclaycard and I also paid them with halifax debit card... and no reward credited!Jami74 said:Every month I pay Barclaycard and American Express credits card bills will my Halifax debit card and so far have received the reward every month.Alas, I cannot use you as an evidence that she was wrongAny ideas how to resolve this..?

Are you paying in the credit card app and typing in the debit card number, expiry and CVV?
Did you renew your rewards when they expired at the end of the first year?
Does the reward tracker say you are meeting the other requirements?Debt Free: 01/01/2020
