I do pay a few hundred each month into HL actually.  If I can do that as a card purchase, that might work.

I know that you could use to clear CC balance. I have used revolut card. But the problem with revolut is spending the cash you have inthe account. In one occasion I got hammered with a fee £4 (?).
I know I could transfer money to my international euro account using IBAN number acount using Revolut, free of charge. But is it possible to feed back your UK bank account in £ free of charge from Revolut ??
I have heard about N&S direct saver.
Any interesting method A way around £500 spending on Halifax Reward account debitcard ??

    Zanderman,

Looking at the T&C for Skipton BS regarding paying into an account:

2.6The first payment into the account can be by debit card, internal transfer from another Skipton account or electronic

payment (but not by Direct Debit) from another UK bank or building society. After that, you can also pay in by cash (in

branch only, and we’ll need to see some photographic ID for the first cash payment), cheque (in branch or by post) or by

    standing order.

I assume all payments can be via debit card and not just the first?

I think the word ALSO answers this question but not 100% sure.

And can you have more than one account?

Could not see anything on this question.

trickydicky14 - we have been using the same Skipton account (my OH`s online saver that is not now available) to pull £500 each month from our Halifax Reward current accounts by debit card, almost since the £5 Reward incentive started. We keep a very small balance in the Skipton account and in the Halifax Reward CA`s, top the HRCA`s with each £500 necessary on a Monday or Tuesday and immediately pull each £500 from the HRCA`s to the Skipton account by debit card. We then withdraw each £500 from the Skipton account 3 working days later because a debit card payment does not clear instantly. That is why it`s best to do your debit card payment on a Monday or Tuesday, otherwise it takes an extra 2 days (weekend) to access. You can use a £1500 payment into your HRCA and then pull £1500 using your debit card to Skipton - this counts for "pay at least £1500 into your account" condition. However we separately do a £500 standing order in/out 3 times a month for each HRCA to meet this condition. You can use a different name debit card to deposit in Skipton which is useful for us.

Thanks for that, I do the same sort of thing with an old Yorkshire BS saver that allows debit card payments and like your Skipton account, no longer available to new customers.
I just thought having a Skipton account as well gives me a back up account if things change.
    Thanks.

  • A back up plan is useful. We contribute £2880 annually to our SIPP`s. You can use a debit card for this payment. This would be another way to do a £500 debit card payment.

This is possible and quicker with Revolut. Sorry Colsten 😏
Don't apologise to me. Just don't come crying when they lock your account for money recycling and you can't get hold of their CS.

Did this actually happen to anyone?
I use Revolut too, but then I pay my rent and energy from it. From time to time some crypto too.
I also pay my credit cards (even Halifax CC) with Halifax Reward debit cards.

I'd like to know this too. Can you pay purchase £500 on Revolut in GBP, using your Halifax debit card, then send the £500 from Revolut back to your main current account without any fees?
