Every month I pay Barclaycard and American Express credits card bills will my Halifax debit card and so far have received the reward every month.
Interesting. The lady yesterday was very convincing. I have also tend to use AMEX and Barclaycard and I also paid them with halifax debit card... and no reward credited!
Alas, I cannot use you as an evidence that she was wrong :(
Any ideas how to resolve this..?

Seems there isn't any consistency of approach - for some savings transfers and credit card payments adding up to £500+ in total (both 'money transfers to another account') appear to qualify for the reward and for others on here they don't.

I can't believe that many people spend £500 a month on a debit card otherwise in a typical month.

Are you paying in the credit card app and typing in the debit card number, expiry and CVV?
Did you renew your rewards when they expired at the end of the first year?
Does the reward tracker say you are meeting the other requirements?
Thanks everyone fingers crossed problem solved. I did not renew it in April since I had no idea I have to that... I did renew it now so will update in due course. I do not use banking apps, only online banking. But I usually pay typing in the debit card details.

My OH never used a credit card before we met... He paid everything by his only debit card. I dragged him into debt >:)

Glad you managed to get to the bottom of it, and shame on the very nice lady in the Halifax Branch who just made up a false story instead of checking there and then that you were actually still enrolled for the rewards. That fell well short of the Halifax standards of service.

To be fair, I'm not sure that halifax intended paying off your credit card to qualify. They just aren't capable of stopping it.

I can’t find any explanation for why the very nice lady in Halifax made up some T&Cs that don’t exist, and failed to check, or at least suggest that it should be checked, whether the customer was enrolled in the rewards scheme. Nothing unfair about pointing this out.

Perhaps just because I usually dress casual and don't look important enough B) . Anyway, while we are on it, do I get it right that one can open 3 rewards accounts at the moment and enroll all of them in the rewards scheme?

There is, as far as I can see, consistency. Payments made using a debit card, to anything, should count.

The example quoted by Emily_Joy of it not working was incorrect.  It wasn't the card payment not working - it was her error in not renewing the reward choice, and the nice-lady-in-the-halifax's error in advising her wrong.

They do seem to say that using your debit card to transfer money doesn't count....

There are a few payments which don’t count for Reward Extras offers:

    • When you take cash out of a cash machine, branch or Post Office counter.
    • When you make a money transfer to another account.

Any payments being queried or disputed won't count towards the £500 or £5,000. And we’ll only count payments that leave your account by the last day of the month.

But all purchases on your card count. This includes purchases you make online, in-store and abroad.

So to be fair to the person working in Halifax that said you had to make a purchase on your account, that is pretty much what is supposed to happen. I wouldn't expect a Halifax employee to tell you that you can do it anyway.

As for checking if you were enrolled regardless, sure. But "I didn't get cashback after transferring money" is likely going to get you the answer they gave.

They do seem to count for me, but I'm not sure they are supposed to or if all debit card transactions will count.

Someone thought to include "When you make a money transfer to another account." and while it's a rather vague statement, when read within the context it would be reasonable to expect that it's supposed to exclude moving money into a savings account etc using your debit card.
